Job summary

Pilkington Glass of Canada Ltd is seeking a maintenance technician to inspect, repair, and maintain warehouse racking systems at our Collingwood facility. You will ensure safety, quality, and compliance during every service call, coordinating with warehouse staff to minimize production disruption.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in industrial maintenance, proficiency with hand and power tools, and knowledge of shelving layouts and anchoring systems.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, warehouse rack installation/repair, or structural steel fabrication.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools (impact wrenches, grinders, concrete hammer drills).
• Strong knowledge of industrial shelving layout, beam locking mechanisms, and floor anchoring systems.
• Welding certification (AWS) is desirable but not mandatory depending on repair methods.
• Forklift and aerial scissor lift certification preferred (or willing to obtain on hire).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work at heights with ladders or aerial lifts.

Responsibilities

• Inspection & Assessment: conduct routine inspections of rack systems to identify damage or unsafe conditions.
• Repair & Restoration: perform structural repairs using approved kits, replacements, or welding techniques.
• Preventative Maintenance: identify high-risk areas and install safety features like guards and protectors.
• Compliance & Safety: ensure repairs meet manufacturer guidelines, NSG/Pilkington standards, OSHA rules; tag out damaged racks.
• Documentation: maintain logs of inspections, repairs, parts, and safety certifications.
• Collaboration: coordinate with warehouse staff to schedule repairs during off-peak hours.
• Adherence to NSG/Pilkington Standards of Business Conduct and its Values.
• Other duties as assigned by manager.
