In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a shared responsibility. Continuous quality and safety improvement is inherent in this role.
Reporting to the Regional Manager of Quality, Long-Term Care and Assisted Living, the Quality Resource Coordinator is a member of the Department's Quality Resource Team. The role involves participating in processes that shape Departmental operations and strategic goals. The Coordinator may provide coaching and mentoring to Long-Term Care staff on initiatives like falls prevention, wound care, and dementia care.
The position is geographically flexible, working across the region and possibly the entire Health Authority. Travel is required, and transportation arrangements must meet operational needs, potentially including use of a personal vehicle.
Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). At least three (3) years' recent experience in Long-Term Care, including one (1) year in a supervisory or leadership role, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Knowledge of quality improvement, infection prevention and control, and Long-Term Care is preferred. Certifications like Gerontology Nursing Certificate (GNC) or Change Management are advantageous. Valid B.C. Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle are required.
