Your New Role :

The Quality Manager is responsible for supporting the project team along with the Quality department to ensure compliance with current policies, procedures, and processes in alignment with ISO 9001-2015 in all aspects of the company in collaboration with health, safety, and environmental as well as ensuring compliance to all project related Quality requirements. They will lead the project team with both the project and Sullivan’s Quality Program. The Quality Manager will also be responsible for effectively communicating the QA strategies to all relevant internal and external stakeholders including subtrades and suppliers.

Project Location :

This initial assignment will be based at our project site in Picton, ON working on the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital with an expected duration of approximately two years. Upon successful completion of the Picton project, the candidate will transition to support other projects within the organization.

Employment : This position is a full-time, permanent position.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities :

While the Quality Manager is responsible for a multitude of duties, the main functions include :

  • Demonstrates and supports Sullivan’s values while focusing on meeting or exceeding customer requirements and expectations.
  • Negotiates skillfully in challenging situations with internal and external parties by winning concessions without damaging relationships and being direct and diplomatic.
  • Participates in industry, client, and community relations to enhance and promote Sullivan.
  • Maintains continuous, open, and consistent communication with clients, partners, government agencies, etc. on behalf of the company.
  • Adapts interpersonal style to highly diverse individuals and groups in various situations, maintaining strong relationship with suppliers and key project personnel and validating the quality of materials / services are obtainable.

Training & Compliance :

  • Supports the design and development of various Sullivan (S-IMS) related training.
  • Supports the design and development of risk management training.
  • Provides support to the project team and may also support the Director, Quality in the effort to minimize any compliance risks (with training, compliance pledge, etc.).

Health, Safety, and Environmental :

  • Adheres to all health, safety, and environmental procedures and regulatory compliance.

Quality :

  • Adheres to all processes and procedures in the Sullivan Integrated Management System (S-IMS).
  • Adheres to all processes and procedures as defined by the project’s contract documents.
  • Ensures the quality of produced efforts reflects the Sullivan quality standards core values.
  • Develops and communicates the performance standards and metrics by which quality is measured.
  • Leads and manages quality incident investigation process, troubleshooting and corrective actions.
  • The Quality Manager may be required to assist in Sullivan’s audit process (internal process and / or various projects).

Field and Project Manager Support :

  • Prepare / coordinate the development of Inspection and Testing Plans (ITPs) for all construction activities.
  • Ensure that the ITP’s are fully implemented, hold and witness points attended, and issues arising resolved expediently.
  • Create and implement the project-specific installation checklists when required.
  • Monitor execution of construction activities and assess compliance with respect to the Sullivan S-IMS and Contract specifications.
  • Monitor adequate closure of all surveillance issues, quality audit findings, nonconformities, etc.
  • Complete inspections and documentation associated with the receiving of component, products, or other jobsite materials.
  • Participate in consultant and client walkthroughs and assist with the identification, documentation, and closure of deficiencies.
  • May need to attend various project meetings including kick-off, monthly quality reports, and project progress as required.
  • Review and understand construction documents (specs, drawings and sketches).
  • May need to assist with change management and change order processes.
  • Identifies potential risks and supports the Project team with risk identification and opportunities on assigned construction projects.
  • Ensures positive working relationships and communications with the project owners, consultants, subtrades, and project team.
  • Participates in reviews of subcontractor’s submittals for compliance with scope, design documentation, and coordination with other subtrades.
  • Monitors supplier and subtrade performance in terms of Quality throughout the project.
  • Assists with site inspections to resolve issues and sign-off on functionality.
  • Assists with overall project closeout documentation including warranties, as-built drawings, operations, and maintenance manuals.
  • Assists with pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
  • Perform other project manager support duties as required to support the overall success and profitability of Sullivan.
  • For the PECMH project, the Quality Manager may be asked to perform various Project Management tasks as time permits in conjunction with the level of experience and understanding of said tasks.

What You Will Need to Succeed :

  • 3+ years as a quality auditor in the construction or a related industry is an asset.
  • Post-Secondary education in construction management, engineering or architectural technology preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (including Word, Excel and SharePoint)
  • Completion of a Certified Auditor course is an asset
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Level II Secret Government clearance.
