Job summary

Medicom in Ontario, London, is seeking a Quality Lab Technician to support product quality, process and equipment validation in a nitrile glove manufacturing environment. The role performs routine and non-routine testing, ensures accurate data recording, and maintains laboratory equipment and documentation in line with quality system requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a laboratory or Quality Control role in a regulated industry.
• Experience performing laboratory testing and handling analytical equipment.
• Diploma or degree in Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Technology, or related scientific field.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in testing and documentation.
• Ability to follow SOPs, test methods, and quality procedures.
• Basic troubleshooting skills for laboratory equipment.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English; able to work independently and in a team.

• Document and report out-of-spec results; maintain lab records and logs.
• Collaborate with production, quality and engineering to support testing needs.

The Opportunity

The Quality Lab Technician is responsible for performing hands-on laboratory testing to support product quality, process and equipment validation, and regulatory compliance in a nitrile glove manufacturing environment. The role executes routine and non-routine testing, ensures accurate data recording, and maintains laboratory equipment and documentation in accordance with quality system requirements. This position supports production, quality investigations, and continuous improvement activities while ensuring compliance with ISO 13485 and applicable regulatory standards.

This is a newly created position to support our operational ramp-up.

What You Will Do

• Perform routine and non-routine laboratory testing in accordance with established methods, specifications, and quality standards.
• Prepare samples, execute test methods, and record results accurately following good documentation practices and data integrity requirements.
• Conduct testing related to product quality, including physical and mechanical properties (e.g., tensile strength, elongation, thickness).
• Support in-process and final product testing to ensure compliance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Analyze process deviations, equipment malfunctions, and quality issues affecting glove performance and yield.
• Support structured root cause analysis and define corrective and preventive actions.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving quality, productivity, reliability, and cost.
• Perform periodic process performance checks and validation support testing.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper use, cleanliness of instruments, calibration status and coordinate calibration activities as required.
• Identify, document, report and escal[e] out-of-specification (OOS) results or deviations in accordance with quality procedures. Assist in maintaining laboratory documentation, including test methods, records, and logs.
• Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to support testing needs and process improvements. Support continuous improvement initiatives and laboratory best practices.

May include other related duties as required, provided such duties are reasonable and consistent with the employee’s qualifications and role responsibilities.

What You Bring

Required

Assets

• Experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, glove,ISO13485 or other regulated manufacturing environments.
• Experience with mechanical or physical testing (e.g., tensile testing, material properties)
• Additional technical training in laboratory operations or quality systems Training in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) or quality systems
  

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

• Work is performed in a manufacturing plant and laboratory environment, with exposure to noise, chemicals, heat, humidity, and industrial machinery.
• The role requires standing, walking, and physical activity throughout the shift, including movement between laboratory and production areas.
• Physical demands may include lifting, bending, and repetitive motions while handling samples, operating equipment, and performing testing.
• The position requires working in a fast-paced production environment and handling materials in accordance with established safety procedures and the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• The role requires rotating continental shifts, including nights, weekends, and overtime, based on operational requirements.
• No travel is required for this role

Compensation

The expected hourly rate for this position is $27 per hour. This position will be eligible for a merit increase in August, 2026. Additional premiums may apply, including evening, night, weekend, or other shift premiums where applicable.
