Job summary

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented QC Laboratory Assistant to support analysts in preparing reagents, operating HPLC systems, and ensuring accurate documentation for testing.

The role requires a Bachelor of Science and at least one year in a pharmaceutical lab, with strong data recording, GMP awareness, and the ability to work effectively in a team within a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science required.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in Pharmaceutical Laboratory environment preferred.
  • Ability to apply chemistry, math, instrumentation and statistics to complete tasks.
  • Knowledge of instruments: pH meter, viscometer, Karl Fisher, UV/IR spectrophotometer, chromatography equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Wet chemistry, KF, UV/VIS, HPLC and GC testing of Raw materials.
  • Preparation of testing documentation package including COA, SOPs, labels and templates.
  • Inventory management of reagents, solutions and lab supplies.
  • Assist with standards maintenance and HPLC/GC column usage tracking.
  • Prepare HPLC testing solutions and mobile phases.
  • Complete GMP documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Participate in audits and CAPAs as needed.
  • Support adverse event reporting from customers if applicable.

Job purpose

The main responsibility of this position is to assist the QC Analyst in performing laboratory testing by preparing reagents, solutions, HPLC systems for analysis and issuing required documentation for testing

Duties and responsibilities
  • Wet chemistry, KF, UV/VIS, HPLC and GC testing of Raw materials
  • Preparation of testing documentation package: (project check list, sample list, certificate of analysis, testing method templates, testing methods (SOP), labels, samples, HPLC column, standards)
  • Inventory management of reagents and solutions (VS, TS solutions: including preparation and standardization)
  • Inventory management of laboratory supplies (vials, glassware, syringes, paper, etc)
  • Assisting with standards maintenance: drying, issuing, sign-out
  • Maintaining inventory usage of HPLC / GC columns
  • Preparation of HPLC testing solutions (Mobile Phase, Internal Standard solution, Sample Solvent, buffers, etc)
  • Control of resolution solutions
  • Complete all GMP Documentation correctly and in a timely manner
  • Complete all training assignments and maintain personal training records
  • Assisting with Non Conformance Investigations
  • Assisting with completion of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA’s)
  • Participate in Internal, Customer, Regulatory and Safety Audits
  • Other duties as assigned
Additional responsibility (Only applicable to customer facing roles)

Report any adverse event received from customers for company products to the pharmacovigilance department / Drug Safety on the same day or within 1 business day

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science
  • Minimum 1 year experience in Pharmaceutical Laboratory environment preferred
  • Ability to apply knowledge of chemistry, math, instrumentation and statistics to complete tasks
  • Knowledge of various techniques and operation of instrumentation (pH meter, viscometer, Karl Fisher apparatus, UV IR spectrophotometer, Chromatography instruments)
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment
  • Knowledge of applicable software (LIMs, Empower and Excel)
  • Strong organizational, analytical and multi-tasking ability
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly with analytical records, reports and investigations
  • Understanding of GMP’s
Working conditions

Generally, fairly pleasant surroundings. Occasional exposure to higher than normal noise levels, frequent exposure to various chemicals used in the testing of raw materials, components and finished products. Occasional exposure to unpleasant odors resulting from testing procedures. Fairly level temperatures. Mixture of standing and walking, some light lifting and/or moving of instruments with the aid of a cart

The presently-anticipated base compensation pay range for this position is $56,500 to $71,000. Actual base compensation may vary based on a number of factors, including but not limited to geographical location and experience. In addition, this position is part of the Annual Performance Bonus Plan. Employees are eligible to participate in Company employee benefit programs which include medical, dental and vision coverage; life insurance; RRSP savings plan; and the employee assistance program. Employees also receive various paid time off benefits, including vacation time and sick time.
