Job summary

PCI is seeking a Quality Assurance Inspector to perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of aerospace composite products to ensure quality standards. The role emphasizes attention to detail, adherence to internal policies, and compliance with AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015.

Typical shop hours are Mon-Fri, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM. Responsibilities include first article inspections, maintaining FAIRs/CofCs, NCRs, CARs, and contributing to audits and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Experience in aerospace quality management systems (AS9100D, AS9102, ISO 9001:2015) is preferred.
  • Proficiency with measurement instruments and quality inspection processes.
  • Ability to conduct root cause analysis and carry out corrective actions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections per work instructions and QMS.
  • Conduct first article inspections to AS9102 standards.
  • Verify dimensions with precision measuring tools and CMM.
  • Prepare FAIRs, CofCs, NCRs, and CARs with accurate documentation.
  • Assist with internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Report quality issues to appropriate managers and participate in QA monitoring programs.

Job Purpose:

PCI is seeking a Quality Assurance Inspector to perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of aerospace composite products to ensure that quality standards are consistently met. This role is critical in preventing non-conforming materials from entering the supply chain and requires a high level of attention to detail and adherence to internal policies and external standards. Typical shop hours run: Mon thru Fri 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Duties & Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned):
  • Perform inspections in accordance with work instructions and PCI’s Quality Management System procedures
  • Conduct first article inspections to AS9102 standards.
  • Verify dimensions and tolerances of machined parts using micrometers, verniers, height gauges, optical comparators, and other precision measuring equipment (including CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine)).
  • Complete and maintain inspection records such as FAIRs (First Article Inspection Reports) and CofCs (Certificates of Conformance)
  • Assist with internal audits and corrective actions to ensure product and process compliance
  • Prepare non-conformance reports (NCRs), including tagging and quarantining non-conforming product, and documenting reasons for rejection.
  • Prepare corrective action reports (CARs), including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation and verification.
  • Report quality issues and defects to appropriate managers
  • Assist with QA monitoring programs including audits, control procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in aerospace composite manufacturing processes.
  • Strong background in aerospace quality management systems and standards (AS9100D, AS9102, ISO 9001:2015)
  • Thorough understanding of quality assurance and continuous improvement methodologies (NCR, CAR, RCA, 5Y, PPAP)
  • Proficiency with all types of measurement instruments and equipment (including CMM).
  • Experience using MRP/ERP systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office suite (word, excel, powerpoint)
  • Experience with 3D modeling software, and 3D printing considered an asset (SolidWorks, Fusion360, etc)

Upon approval, continuing education will be supported by PCI as needed.

Working conditions:

PCI promotes a safe and clean working environment that meets or exceeds standards prescribed by the Ministry of Labour (Ontario). Work will be conducted indoors in our manufacturing shop. Personal protective equipment will be necessary when operating on the shop floor including safety shoes (CSA Green Triangle) and safety glasses. Respiratory protection, hearing protection, appropriate gloves and work suits will be mandatory as required.

Other conditions include:

Ability to work flexible hours, overtime, and different shifts, on occasion, based on demanding manufacturing schedules
Stand for long periods of time. Use their hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Repeat the same movements. Bend or twist their body. Climb ladders, kneel, stoop, or crouch for long periods of time
Work in dirty, dusty environment (PPE provided)
PCI manufactures products that contain products that may act as an irritant that triggers an allergic reaction as asthmatic symptoms in susceptible workers.
