Job summary

Golderado Contracting Corporation in Canada is seeking a Quality Control Lead to champion our quality program on PME/EDI projects. Based in our Fort Saskatchewan office, you will lead QA/QC activities, coordinate with the EllisDon Quality Director, and ensure compliance with project requirements.

The role requires a Civil/Construction Engineering background with at least 3 years' experience, strong English, a valid driver's license, and a readiness to travel to site locations across Alberta.

Qualifications

  • Civil or Construction Engineering diploma or degree; minimum 3 years of experience.
  • Strong background in industrial, heavy civil earthworks, road building and underground utilities.
  • Proficient English language skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Champion and lead the implementation of operational best practices, risk management, and QA/QC activities.
  • Be the subject matter expert and main contact for all quality inquiries for PME/EDI.
  • Coordinate project quality programs and documentation with EllisDon Quality Director.
  • Review turnover packages and quality records.
  • Participate in internal and external quality audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Liaise with field operations and stakeholders to ensure quality standards.
  • Travel to project sites as required.
  • Plan work to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Oversee development and implementation of Subcontractor Quality Plans.
  • Prepare/coordinate development of Inspection and Testing Plans (ITPs).
  • Ensure ITPs are fully implemented with witnesses attended and issues resolved.
  • Create project-specific installation checklists.
  • Monitor construction activities for compliance with the quality management plan and contract specs.
  • Inspect and document receipt of components and materials.
  • Assist with consultant and client walkthroughs and close deficiencies.

Job description

Quality Control Lead

Golderado Contracting Corporation ("Golderado") supplies skilled labour for construction projects across Canada, primarily in Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan, supporting clients such as PME Inc., Silverado Site Services, and EllisDon Industrial.

The Quality Lead role will be considered a permanent, full-time position that will be key to support with EDI (PME) quality program.

***This position will be based out of our Fort Saskatchewan office***

Key Information:
  • Hours: Based on a 40-hour work week (8 hours a day, Monday - Friday)
  • Salary is dependent on experience.

Job Description:
  • Ability to champion and lead the effective implementation of operational best practices, risk management strategies, and quality assurance / quality control activities.

  • Ensure that the ITPs are fully implemented, hold and witness points attended, and issues arising resolved expediently.
  • Create and complete project-specific installation checklists.
  • Monitor execution of construction activities and assess compliance with respect to the construction quality management plan and contract specifications.
  • Complete inspections and documentation associated with the receiving of components, products or other jobsite materials.
  • Participate in consultant and client walkthroughs and assist with the identification, documentation and closure of deficiencies.
Experience and Certification Requirements:
  • Civil or Construction Engineering diploma or degree with minimum 3 years of experience or equivalent and familiarity with quality management systems and practices.
  • Senior Civil experience required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • A driver's abstract is required and must be obtained no more than 30 days prior to employment start date.
  • Strong background in industrial, heavy civil earthworks, road building and underground utilities.
  • You are a self-directed, motivated team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • A reliable means of transportation is required.
  • Proficient English language skills required.

Education: Civil or Construction Engineering diploma or degree.
