Overview:
The person in this role provides on-site expertise in quality control and assurance. They will be responsible for inspecting various ongoing projects to ensure they meet client requirements and quality standards. Strong attention to detail will be essential to accurately identify components that need correction before finalizing the project.
What you will be doing:
Monitor the progress of ongoing work and carry out the required inspections using prepared documents/forms;
Complete inspection reports and submit them within agreed deadlines;
Use measuring instruments to ensure components meet defined tolerances;
Inspect the assembly of components, the installation of sub-assemblies and assemblies on rail vehicles to ensure compliance with manufacturing drawings and client requirements during all stages of production and assembly;
Document any non-conformities (NCRs) and follow up on the implementation of corrective actions;
Assist clients during their progress inspections (hold points) and/or travel to their facilities if needed;
Establish and maintain positive working relationships with client representatives (both internal and external);
Perform any other related tasks as required.
What you must have:
3 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the transportation or rail industry;
Experience in quality assurance/control (an asset);
AAR (Association of American Railroads) training (an asset);
Comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite;
Knowledge of manufacturing processes specific to the rail industry (an asset);
Physically fit and capable of performing physical tasks, including lifting up to 22 kg (non- repetitive);
Committed to meeting client expectations;
Able to work both independently and as part of a team;
Comfortable climbing on/in railcars (working at heights);
Skilled in using precise measuring tools such as calipers and dial indicators;
Strong analytical skills, courteous demeanor, and good interpersonal abilities;
Able to work in varied conditions, including challenging environments;
Highly organized, able to complete documentation accurately, autonomous, detail- oriented, and thorough.
The candidate must be able to communicate well in English (50% of the time), as his or her duties require interaction with stakeholders and colleagues outside Quebec and Canada.
Salary/Rate Range: $23.61 – $28.88 / hour
