The Opportunity -

We are adding another Quality Control Assessor to our team. Reporting to the Director of Technical Services, this position will perform site reviews of single-family and/or multi-family projects enrolled for home warranty during construction. You will evaluate construction quality and ensure practices follow relevant provincial building codes and minimum construction quality standards.

Your responsibilities include providing construction reviews, assessments, and inspections on potential new projects to assist with risk assessment and to provide technical construction expertise during the claims process. This role requires regional travel and would be considered a "remote worker" position, with visits to the branch location as needed. A company vehicle will be provided for regional travel.

A day in the life -
  1. Conduct site reviews of new homes and buildings during construction to ensure compliance with quality standards and building codes.
  2. Escalate high-risk reports to the Senior Manager, Technical Services.
  3. Assist in identifying solutions to bring projects up to acceptable standards.
  4. Advise builders of deficiencies related to building codes, methods, materials, and workmanship.
  5. Perform technical construction reviews for the claims department concerning home warranty.
  6. Provide guidance on technical construction matters to underwriting and claims departments.
  7. Maintain strong relationships with builders, trades, consultants, and industry stakeholders.
  8. Travel daily to construction sites using the supplied vehicle, with occasional regional travel.
What you will bring to the team -

5 years’ experience in the residential construction industry.

1-3 years of home warranty experience is an asset but not required.

Canadian Home Inspector certificate from an accredited institution is an asset but not required.

Strong knowledge of residential construction procedures, methods, techniques, and building codes.

Technically savvy with the ability to learn inspection software, use a company phone, and Microsoft Office.

Knowledge of provincial work safe requirements.

Must possess a valid driver’s license in good standing.

Post-secondary education in Construction Management or Construction Science is an asset but not required.

Red Seal Carpenter or Journeyperson trade certification is an asset but not required.

Salary Expectations -

The salary range is $57,000 to $62,000, influenced by skills, experience, location, and specific role factors. HUB offers comprehensive benefits including health, disability, RRSP matching, paid time off, bonuses, and commissions where applicable.
