The Opportunity

We are adding a Quality Control Assessor to our team. Reporting to the Director of Technical Services, this role involves performing site reviews of single-family and/or multi-family projects enrolled for home warranty during construction. You will evaluate construction quality and ensure practices adhere to provincial building codes and quality standards.

You will conduct construction reviews, assessments, and inspections to help assess risk and provide technical expertise during the claims process. This role requires regional travel and is considered a "remote worker" position, with visits to the branch as needed. A company vehicle will be provided for regional travel.

A Day in the Life
  1. Conduct site reviews of new homes and buildings during construction to ensure compliance with quality standards and codes.
  2. Escalate high-risk reports to the Senior Manager, Technical Services.
  3. Identify solutions to bring projects up to standard.
  4. Advise builders on deficiencies related to building codes, methods, materials, and workmanship.
  5. Perform technical reviews related to home warranty claims.
  6. Provide guidance on technical construction matters to underwriting and claims teams.
  7. Maintain strong relationships with builders, trades, consultants, and industry stakeholders.
  8. Travel daily to construction sites using the supplied vehicle, with occasional regional travel.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in residential construction.
  • 1-3 years of home warranty experience is an asset but not required.
  • Canadian Home Inspector certificate is an asset but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of residential construction procedures, methods, and codes.
  • Proficiency with inspection software, Microsoft Office, and mobile devices.
  • Knowledge of provincial work safe requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing.
  • Post-secondary education in Construction Management or Science is an asset but not required.
  • Red Seal Carpenter or Journeyperson trade certification is an asset but not required.
Salary & Benefits

The salary range is $57,000 to $62,000, influenced by experience, skills, and location. We offer comprehensive benefits, including health benefits, disability insurance, RRSP matching, paid time off, bonuses, and commissions where applicable.
