POSITION TITLE – Quality Assurance Technician

REPORTS TO - Quality Assurance Manager

LOCATION - Brampton, ON

We design and manufacture suspension components for wheeled and tracked military vehicles and off-highway machines used in construction, forestry, mining and agriculture. POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, the Quality Assurance Technician will be working with a QA team to ensure company and customer quality standards are being met. This position is ideal for detail-oriented, organized individuals who are interested in the wide-ranging responsibilities.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

In this position you will be reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The responsibilities of this position would be:

  • Sample, test, and measure products to ensure they meet pre-determined quality standards
  • Compare findings against customer, Company, and/or standard requirements
  • Ensure products are in accordance with established tolerance for quality and performance
  • Document all inspection activities, maintain accurate records, and provide input to the Quality and Production teams
  • Issue non-conformance reports based on established quality levels
  • Perform and generate inspection and test experiment reports
  • Perform First Article Inspection (FAI’s) or Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) layouts as required
  • Provide guidance to Production Workers, enabling them to perform the appropriate preliminary quality checks and inspections
  • Provide input on quality issues to be addressed by the Production and Engineering departments
  • Production audit testing on testing apparatus (such as MTS servo-hydraulic actuators)
  • Perform other duties as required

KNOWLEDGE & ABILITY REQUIRED

Qualifications:

  • Strong Analytical Skills
  • Experience in Quality Management
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting
  • Experience in automotive or heavy vehicle industry is a plus
  • Post-secondary degree, diploma or certification within related field preferred
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Quality Assurance or similar role
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience working in ISO 9001 registered company
  • Canadian permanent residence or citizenship to work with CGRP requirements
  • Ability to travel internationally
  • Holds a valid Driving Licence

TECHNICAL & SOFT SKILLS

Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills required, both written and verbal
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, time management and documentation skills
  • Able to read and interpret Engineering drawings with a good understanding of GD&T
  • Able to setup and use precision measurement instruments (CMM, Hardness tester) to measure machined components
  • Able to manage multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Able to troubleshoot with a high sense of urgency
  • Must be mechanically inclined, with strong attention to details
  • Motivated team player
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and experience in quality department
  • Working knowledge of database systems, statistical techniques, and ISO environments
  • Strong understanding of standards specific to materials, heat treatment and surface finishing for steels
  • Knowledge of APQP
  • Knowledge of destructive and non-destructive testing
  • Understanding of problem-solving methodology (5-Why, Fishbone, 8D) an asset
