Job summary

Seequent in Calgary, AB is seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist II to join a hybrid SCRUM team. You will work with software engineers, researchers, designers and product managers to advance QA practices for Seequent’s SaaS/cloud capabilities and ensure high quality software delivery.

You will develop and execute test plans, expand automated testing, and embed quality checks in CI/CD pipelines, targeting security, performance, and compliance.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Computer Science or a closely related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in QA roles with SaaS/Cloud-based application testing.
  • Hands-on experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and Python for automation and scripting.
  • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices, containerisation and CI/CD workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Perform automated and exploratory testing across the deployment lifecycle, validating web interfaces, backend services, and critical user workflows continuously.
  • Establish and improve automated test coverage for existing and newly developed capabilities while monitoring diverse test suites.
  • Embed quality validation directly into the CI/CD pipeline to ensure code increments meet security, performance, compliance and functional requirements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders from Software Engineering, Research, Product Design, and Product Management to promote quality standards.

The Role

Quality Assurance Specialist II – Calgary, AB (hybrid) – member of a supportive and innovative SCRUM team. In this role you will collaborate with software engineers, research engineers, designers and product managers to advance software quality procedures, develop and execute test plans, and enhance automated testing systems and test coverage for Seequent’s SaaS/cloud capabilities.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Perform automated and exploratory testing across the deployment lifecycle, validating web interfaces, backend services, and critical user workflows continuously.
  • Establish and improve automated test coverage for existing and newly developed capabilities while closely monitoring diverse test suites.
  • Embed quality validation directly into the CI/CD pipeline to ensure every code increment meets strict security, performance, compliance, and functional requirements.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary collaboration with stakeholders from Software Engineering, Research, Product Design, and Product Management.
  • Promote the highest software quality standards across the organisation and actively contribute to general engineering process improvements.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
  • An academic degree (BSc or above) in Computer Science or a closely related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in QA roles with a proven track record in SaaS and Cloud‑based application testing.
  • Hands‑on experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and Python for automation and scripting.
  • Strong understanding of cloud‑native architectures (RESTful APIs, microservices, containerisation) alongside solid knowledge of CI/CD workflows and the application development lifecycle.
  • A strong drive to work effectively within a diverse, fast‑paced global team to deliver advanced, high‑quality software capabilities.

  • Proficiency in managing diverse, complex technical tasks, resolving challenging issues through investigation, creative thinking, and innovative approaches.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to explain complex technical ideas effectively, driving both personal and team development.
  • The adaptability to collaborate across different global time zones, working comfortably in a hybrid environment with two days a week in the Calgary office.
