Job summary

Islands West in Victoria, BC is seeking a Quality Control Technician to join our Operations Team in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment. This part-time role focuses on ensuring products are handled properly and compliant with health and safety standards.

You will perform inspections, line checks, raw material and finished product reviews, allergen and HACCP checks, and support GMP compliance. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, a strong communicator, and able to work well in a team while

Qualifications

• Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented and methodical in documentation and processes.
• Self-starter, team player and a finisher.
• Physically capable of carrying up to 20 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily operational inspections, monitor room temperature, verify metal detection, perform building inspections, and monitor GMPs.
• Carry out line checks to ensure product and process specifications.
• Inspect raw materials and outgoing products, report deficiencies.
• Perform control point checks, pre-shipment reviews, and allergen checks.
• Review and verify production records for completion and accuracy.
• Microbial sampling of raw materials, environment and finished products.
• Adhere to food safety and HACCP principles.
