Job summary

NDI (Northern Digital Inc.) is seeking a QA Inspection Technician in Cambridge, Canada to ensure components, assemblies, and products meet specifications and quality requirements. You’ll manage inspection records, support calibration activities, and work with Quality, R&D, and Operations to improve processes.

The role emphasizes attention to detail, documentation, and collaboration across teams in a regulated medical-device environment.

Qualifications

  • Education: College diploma or certificate in Quality, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology, Metrology, or related technical discipline; equivalent education and relevant experience will also be considered.
  • 1–2 years of experience in quality inspection, manufacturing, calibration/metrology, equipment administration, or a related technical environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Strong computer and electronic record-management skills for inspection and measurement.
  • Experience with PCBA/electronic or mechanical inspection, IPC-A-610, inspection equipment, ERP/eQMS systems, GD&T, calibration, ISO 13485, or ALCOA+ practices is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming electronic and mechanical components, assemblies, and finished products against specifications, drawings, and quality requirements.
  • Conduct and document First Article Inspections (FAIs) for new or changed materials.
  • Identify and document non-conforming material, ensure segregation and quarantine, and support disposition with Quality and Engineering.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, incoming quality metrics, and ERP/eQMS material transactions.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Supplier Quality Engineering, R&D, and other stakeholders to improve inspection methods and test plans.
  • Coordinate calibration activities for inspection, measuring, and test equipment, and maintain equipment records and certificates.
  • Monitor and escalate overdue calibrations or equipment concerns and support QA Laboratory readiness.
  • Administer preventive-maintenance schedules and records for production equipment within the eQMS.
  • Support continuous improvement of inspection, calibration, equipment-control, and record-management processes.
  • Support compliance by adhering to regulatory and quality standards and quality-system requirements.

Education

Compensation Range

$ 52,000.00 - $62,000.00 range per year.

THE IMPACT YOU'LL MAKE

As a QA Inspection Technician at NDI, you'll help ensure incoming electronic and mechanical components, assemblies, and finished products meet applicable requirements before production. You'll support the control and calibration of inspection and measurement equipment and administer maintenance records for applicable production equipment within NDI’s quality systems. This role is a great fit for someone who is detail-oriented and organized, with an interest in technical documentation, measurement equipment, and building hands-on quality experience in a regulated medical-device environment.

HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE
  • Inspect incoming electronic and mechanical components, assemblies, and finished products against specifications, drawings, schematics, inspection plans, and quality requirements.
  • Conduct and document First Article Inspections (FAIs) for new or changed materials.
  • Identify and document non-conforming material, ensure appropriate segregation and quarantine, and support timely review and disposition with Quality and Engineering stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, incoming quality metrics, and applicable ERP material transactions.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Supplier Quality Engineering, R&D, and other stakeholders to improve inspection methods and test plans.
  • Coordinate calibration activities for inspection, measuring, and test equipment, including maintaining equipment records, certificates, status, identification, and due dates.
  • Monitor and escalatE overdue calibrations or equipment concerns and support the organization and readiness of the QA Laboratory.
  • Administer preventive-maintenance schedules and records for applicable production equipment within the eQMS, including monitoring due dates and following up with responsible equipment owners.
  • Support continuous improvement of inspection, calibration, equipment-control, and record-management processes.
  • Support compliance by adhering to applicable regulatory and quality standards and established quality-system requirements.
EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • College diploma or certificate in Quality, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology, Metrology, or a related technical discipline; equivalent education and relevant experience will also be considered.
  • 1–2 years of experience in quality inspection, manufacturing, calibration/metrology, equipment administration, or a related technical environment.
