Job summary

Vuteq Canada Inc. is seeking a Purchasing Coordinator (Commodity Buyer) in Woodstock, Ontario. You will control costs, negotiate contracts, manage supplier relationships, and lead RFQ activities to optimize parts/materials for our automotive customers.

You will drive cost reductions, develop purchasing strategies, and partner with Engineering and Production to support programs while ensuring compliance with Vuteq standards.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 year college diploma in Purchasing Materials Management or Supply Chain Operations
  • CSCMP designation considered an asset
  • AIAG IATF 16949:2016 Supplier Auditor Certification considered an asset
  • 2-3 years of purchasing experience
  • 1-2 years external customer service experience
  • 1-2 years Microsoft Office experience
  • 2-5 years automotive experience

Responsibilities

  • Guide and develop assigned Vuteq suppliers to achieve cost, safety and quality improvements
  • Lead assigned suppliers and commodities
  • Create RFQs and compare pricing across suppliers with total cost analysis
  • Develop Purchasing Strategy Documents for assigned commodities
  • Achieve yearly cost reductions through APR, VE/VA
  • Report progress in weekly team meetings and PDCA cycles
  • Negotiate with suppliers to reduce pricing and improve service
  • Build supplier relationships via quarterly performance reviews and site visits
  • Provide purchasing support to Engineering and Production
  • Collaborate with other plants to troubleshoot issues
  • Interpret customer specifications and review drawings

Job Description

The Purchasing Coordinator (Commodity Buyer) is responsible for controlling costs, negotiating contracts, contract management, building supplier relationships for the requirements and specification of parts/materials required by our customers.

Position Description

  • Utilize Vuteq best practices and leadership skills to guide and develop an assigned set of Vuteq suppliers to achieve improvements and global competitive results in safety, quality, productivity, and cost
  • Lead assigned suppliers and commodities
  • Request for quote (RFQ) activities; Create RFQs, send to suppliers for pricing, compare returned RFQs from different suppliers, provide feedback to suppliers, Total cost analysis, complete Business Award Ringisho and obtain approval
  • Creating Purchasing Strategy Documents for assigned commodities
  • Responsible for setting and achieving yearly cost reductions through APR negotiation, VE/VA, etc.
  • Report weekly in team meetings the progress of targets and goals (PDCA)
  • Negotiating; negotiate with suppliers to get lower pricing and improved service, work with suppliers to improve their processes to improve pricing for Vuteq through benchmarking and analysis
  • Building supplier relationships; Quarterly meeting to review performance and cost reduction ideas, supplier site-visits to ensure compliance with Vuteq standards and understand process related to cost
  • Project management: take lead on projects as assigned by manager, provide purchasing support to Engineering, Production areas
  • Participate, as needed, and interact with other Vuteq plants troubleshoot issues and problem solve.
  • Must be able to understand the required specifications from the customers, review drawings (internal and external)

Qualifications

Education

  • Successful completion of a 2 - 3 year college diploma in Purchasing Materials Management/Supply Chain Operations/Business Program Equity considered an asset
  • Certified Supply Chain Management Professional (CSCMP) designation considered an asset
  • AIAG IATF 16949:2016 Supplier Auditor Certification considered an asset

Experience

  • 2 - 3 years of purchasing experience
  • 1 - 2 years of external customer service experience
  • 1 - 2 years of Microsoft Office experience
  • 2 -5 years of automotive experience

Skills and Abilities

  • Maintain a high level of accuracy and detail orientation when producing data and reports
  • Ability to adapt to changing demands of production and team member issues
  • Actively listen to different suppliers for maintain and enhancing requirements
  • Ability to effectively manage a small group of professionals to achieve shared and personal goals
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to speak in front of groups of people, and ability to effectively communicate information with varying levels of individuals (both team members and management groups)
  • Ability to show versatility and resourcefulness when problem solving
  • Ability to organize priorities based on deadlines and importance of tasks
  • Manage time efficiently while working on several different tasks at once
  • Ability to communicate is a second language would be an asset
