Job summary

Vuteq Canada Inc. in Woodstock, ON, is seeking a Purchasing Coordinator (Commodity Buyer) to manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and drive cost reductions.

The role focuses on leading assigned commodities, conducting RFQ activities, and delivering value across the purchasing function. The position requires automotive purchasing experience, 2-3 years in purchasing, and a college diploma in Purchasing or related fields.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years purchasing experience.
• Experience in external customer service is preferred.
• Automotive sector experience is an asset.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead assigned suppliers and commodities to achieve cost, safety, quality, and productivity improvements.
• Conduct RFQ activities; prepare RFQs, obtain multiple quotes, analyze totals, and obtain approvals.
• Develop purchasing strategy documents for assigned commodities.
• Achieve yearly cost reductions through APR, VE/VA, etc.
• Report weekly on targets and progress in team meetings.

Job Description

The Purchasing Coordinator (Commodity Buyer) is responsible for controlling costs, negotiating contracts, contract management, building supplier relationships for the requirements and specification of parts/materials required by our customers.

Position Description

• Utilize Vuteq best practices and leadership skills to guide and develop an assigned set of Vuteq suppliers to achieve improvements and global competitive results in safety, quality, productivity, and cost
• Lead assigned suppliers and commodities
• Request for quote (RFQ) activities; Create RFQs, send to suppliers for pricing, compare returned RFQs from different suppliers, provide feedback to suppliers, Total cost analysis, complete Business Award Ringisho and obtain approval
• Creating Purchasing Strategy Documents for assigned commodities
• Responsible for setting and achieving yearly cost reductions through APR negotiation, VE/VA, etc.
• Report weekly in team meetings the progress of targets and goals (PDCA)
• Negotiating; negotiate with suppliers to get lower pricing and improved service, work with suppliers to improve their processes to improve pricing for Vuteq through benchmarking and analysis
• Building supplier relationships; Quarterly meeting to review performance and cost reduction ideas, supplier site-visits to ensure compliance with Vuteq standards and understand process related to cost
• Project management: take lead on projects as assigned by manager, provide purchasing support to Engineering, Production areas
• Participate, as needed, and interact with other Vuteq plants troubleshoot issues and problem solve.
• Must be able to understand the required specifications from the customers, review drawings (internal and external)

Qualifications

Education

• Successful completion of a 2 - 3 year college diploma in Purchasing Materials Management/Supply Chain Operations/Business Program Equity considered an asset
• Certified Supply Chain Management Professional (CSCMP) designation considered an asset
• AIAG IATF 16949:2016 Supplier Auditor Certification considered an asset

Experience

• 2 - 3 years of purchasing experience
• 1 - 2 years of external customer service experience
• 1 - 2 years of Microsoft Office experience
• 2 -5 years of automotive experience

Skills and Abilities

• Maintain a high level of accuracy and detail orientation when producing data and reports
• Ability to adapt to changing demands of production and team member issues
• Actively listen to different suppliers for maintain and enhancing requirements
• Ability to effectively manage a small group of professionals to achieve shared and personal goals
• Strong interpersonal skills; able to speak in front of groups of people, and ability to effectively communicate information with varying levels of individuals (both team members and management groups)
• Ability to show versatility and resourcefulness when problem solving
• Ability to organize priorities based on deadlines and importance of tasks
• Manage time efficiently while working on several different tasks at once
• Ability to communicate is a second language would be an asset
