Trouw Nutrition is hiring… The Purchasing Assistant provides clerical and administrative office work such as data processing, document processing, as well as record and file maintenance, supporting the purchasing/procurement department. The role focuses on the execution of operational processes and supports the Procurement Manager and overall department.

This role will be positioned in the purchasing/procurement departments where data, documents and information are being processed following standardized procedures. This position works with buyers to ensure proper order levels and timing of delivery to achieve optimum production efficiency at the facility.

About The Role

Responsibilities:

  • Reviews, processes, & executes weekly mill/warehouse order requests, and daily formulation requests ensuring supply, and following through until delivery to ensure timeliness, and accuracy
  • Create and administers contract purchase orders from bookings made by buyer
  • Handles inbound trucking and ingredient issues as needed
  • Receives, classifies, consolidates data and information in various systems / databases according to the relevant work instructions
  • Processes invoices, expense statements and other financial documents

Skills and Expertise

Qualifications:

  • Diploma / Bachelor in Business Administration (Procurement / Operations Management, Agriculture or Operations Engineering), or related training; specialization in procurement will be considered an asset
  • 1 to 3 years’ experience in procurement management in the agri-commodity markets preferred
  • Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge of procurement management using an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system;
  • Understanding of logistics (rail, truck, and container)
  • Must be passionate about your career!

Expectation from the Role:

  • Proactively question and flag any incomplete or inconsistent data before it moves downstream
  • High-Volume Data Entry
  • Perform end-to-end invoice matching, resolution of discrepancies
  • Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail in every task
  • Consistently execute routine tasks (e.g., data uploads, record reconciliations) with focus and efficiency
  • A hybrid of at least three days in the office
