Job description

Join our newly centralized and growing Strategic Sourcing team at Liebherr Canada! As a Buyer, you will play a vital role in managing indirect spend and ensuring the efficient procurement of high-quality materials and services. You’ll be responsible for building strong supplier relationships, streamlining purchasing processes, and ensuring timely delivery to support our operations across Canada. Responsibilities
  • Supplier Management: Build and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing, favorable terms, and timely deliveries
  • Procurement Planning: Collaborate with internal teams to assess demand forecasts and inventory levels, ensuring purchasing aligns with operational needs while minimizing supply chain risks
  • Contract Management: Assist in drafting, reviewing, and managing supplier contracts, ensuring adherence to company policies and compliance with regulatory standards
  • Order Management: Place and track purchase orders (predominantly indirect spend), ensuring the timely delivery of goods and services that meet quality and compliance standards
  • Process Improvement: Contribute to process enhancements aimed at improving procurement efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and service quality across the supply chain
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Provide regular reports on procurement activities, supplier performance, and cost metrics to support decision-making
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams such as warehouse, finance, and operations to ensure procurement supports the business needs effectively
  • Risk Management: Monitor and address procurement risks related to supplier performance, market conditions, and potential disruptions, ensuring continuity of operations
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience in procurement or buying, ideally within the heavy equipment or manufacturing industry. Experience in managing supplier relationships within a complex, dynamic environment is an asset
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in managing data, generating reports, and drawing insights to support decision-making
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate terms and conditions effectively to maximize value and manage costs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with ERP or procurement systems; familiarity with SAP is a plus
  • Solid understanding of procurement principles, supplier management, and supply chain logistics
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and contribute to a positive team environment
  • Willingness to take on new challenges, adapt to changing business needs, and continuously seek process improvements
