Surrey Police Service (SPS) seeks a Fleet Manager to lead the Fleet Management Unit within the Corporate Services Bureau. You will establish policies for purchase, operation, maintenance, and disposal of fleet vehicles, while implementing forward-thinking fleet programs and managing multi-million-dollar budgets.

The role drives efficiency and supports policing operations through strong procurement and leadership.

Qualifications

• Five years of transport management or automotive experience including supervisory experience in a unionized environment.
• Diploma in a related field.
• Public Fleet Professional designation or Certified Automotive Fleet Manager designation in good standing.
• A combination of experience and education may be considered.
• All applicants must obtain and maintain police security clearance including a mandatory polygraph examination.

Responsibilities

• Implements and manages fleet inventory and records systems for fleet operations and maintenance.
• Ensures compliance with regulations, standards, and SPS policies.
• Oversees fleet management and preventive maintenance to ensure vehicle availability for operations and events.
• Monitors expenditures, prepares reports, and provides cost forecasts with Finance.
• Develops relationships with internal stakeholders, vendors, and service providers.
• Negotiates vehicle leases and service contracts.
• Evaluates fleet requirements and procurement plans.
• Prepares vehicle specifications and tender packages per budget and standards.
• Provides leadership, direction, and development to fleet personnel.
• Plans, organizes, assigns, and monitors work to meet service objectives.
