Job summary

The City of Iqaluit is seeking a Municipal Enforcement Officer to promote public safety by enforcing by-laws and territorial legislation, conducting inspections, and supporting community education initiatives.

Reporting to the Municipal Enforcement Sergeant, you will handle investigations, prepare enforcement reports, participate in traffic control activities, and coordinate with RCMP and municipal partners to uphold laws and serve residents.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
• 1–3 years of enforcement experience.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and firearm licence.
• Ability to obtain a Criminal Record Check.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Indigenous language skills, radar certification, and related training are assets.

Responsibilities

• Enforce by-laws and territorial legislation through inspections of businesses, vehicles, and properties.
• Investigate complaints, interview witnesses, and prepare enforcement reports and documentation.
• Conduct traffic safety activities, radar patrols, warnings, and ticket issuance.
