Short Description:
- The Tennessee Department of Health’s Division of Family Health and Wellness is hiring a Program Director for the Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) Surveillance Program.
- This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the program, grant and budget and ensuring that planned activities are implemented.
- The NAS Surveillance Program was established in 2013 when NAS was added to Tennessee’s reportable disease list. In 2023 the program was awarded a 4-yearCenters for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) grant titled Pregnant People-Infant Linked Longitudinal Surveillance.
- The program has three main goals: 1) to expand surveillance capacity; 2) improve care coordination for infants and pregnant and postpartum people affected by substance use; and 3) collaborate with partners to improve the system of care for infants with NAS and their families. The NAS Surveillance Program team consists of a Program Director, a Medical Director, and Epidemiologist, and two Public Health Nurse Consultants.
- This is a contract position that will report directly to the Tennessee Birth Defects Surveillance Program Director.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Lead weekly team meetings
- Attend and represent the Tennessee team during all meetings with CDC and other awarded jurisdictions
- Attend and represent Tennessee during Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologist (CSTE) NAS surveillance workgroup meetings
- Oversee the completion of all grant deliverables and manage the grant budget
- Actively participate in strategic planning for the program
- Work with the team to develop reports and disseminate findings to leadership and partners
- Keep up-to-date on NAS surveillance best practices and identify opportunities to learn from partners and other jurisdictions participating in NAS surveillance and research
- Identify opportunities for the NAS team to share data and program findings at conferences and through manuscript development
