Job summary

The Saskatoon Downtown Youth Centre Inc. - EGADZ seeks a Part Time Youth Worker for our Drop in Centre. You will help run daily operations and assist youth accessing the facility in Saskatoon.

Responsibilities include building trust with youth, advocating and providing immediate services such as nutrition, clothing and referrals, and organizing sport, recreation and cultural activities at the Centre and in the community.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrate a healthy lifestyle.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with youth, staff and partnering agencies and maintain confidentiality and boundaries.
  • Express ideas and concepts effectively in oral and written form.
  • Working knowledge of computers/windows.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous cultures and issues.
  • Post secondary education in administration, equivalent experience or a combination of both.
  • Driver's Abstract within 3 months.
  • Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector within 6 months.

Job description

The Saskatoon Downtown Youth Centre Inc. - EGADZ requires a Part Time Youth Worker within our Drop in Centre. The Youth Worker is responsible for the daily operations of the Drop in Center and assisting the youth who access the facility.

EGADZ is an inter‑agency, non‑profit organization whose purpose is to provide services for hard to serve youth in Saskatoon with the mission to encourage and support them to make choices that improve their quality of life.

Responsibilities vary from building trusting relations with youth to advocating and providing immediate services including nutrition, clothing, and referrals for issues they require assistance with in Saskatoon. The ideal candidate will be able to organize and participate in sport, recreation and cultural activities with the youth both in the Centre and in the community.

  • Demonstrate and practice a healthy lifestyle
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with youth, staff and partnering agencies and maintain strict confidentiality and appropriate boundaries
  • Ability to express ideas and concepts effectively in an oral and written form
  • Working knowledge of computers/windows
  • Knowledge of Indigenous cultures and issues
  • Post secondary education in administration, equivalent experience or a combination of both
  • Must have an experienced driver’s license that reflects a safe driving record - a Driver's Abstract is required (within 3 months)
  • Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector (Within 6 months)

Starting Wage $22.01 per hour
