Job summary

Saskatoon Downtown Youth Centre EGADZ Inc. is seeking a Full-Time Youth Worker for our Drop-in Centre in Saskatoon. You will help run daily operations and assist youth who access the facility.

The role focuses on building trust, providing immediate services such as nutrition and clothing, and coordinating activities with youth in the Centre and in the community.

Requirements include Grade 12, 1-2 years of relevant experience, a valid driver’s license, and completion of a Vulnerable Sector check.

Qualifications

• Must have Grade 12 or equivalent.
• 1-2 years of youth work or related experience.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with youth and maintain confidentiality.
• Strong oral and written communication.
• Working knowledge of computers.
• Must have Driver's license with clean record; Driver's Abstract required.
• Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the Drop-in Centre.
• Assist youth accessing the facility and provide immediate services.
• Organize sport, recreation and cultural activities.
• Advocate for youth and connect to referrals for nutrition and clothing.
• Maintain safety and confidentiality.

The Saskatoon Downtown Youth Centre Inc. - EGADZ requires a Full Time Youth Worker within our Drop in Centre. The Youth Worker is responsible for the daily operations of the Drop in Center and assisting the youth who access the facility.

EGADZ is an inter-agency, non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide services for hard to serve youth in Saskatoon with the mission to encourage and support them to make choices that improve their quality of life.

Responsibilities vary from building trusting relations with youth to advocating and providing immediate services including nutrition, clothing, and referrals for issues they require assistance with in Saskatoon. The ideal candidate will be able to organize and participate in sport, recreation and cultural activities with the youth both in the Centre and in the community.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrate and practice a healthy lifestyle
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with youth, staff and partnering agencies and maintain strict confidentiality and appropriate boundaries
• Ability to express ideas and concepts effectively in an oral and written form
• Working knowledge of computers/windows
• Knowledge of Indigenous cultures and issues
• Post secondary education in administration, equivalent experience or a combination of both
• Must have an experienced drivers license that reflects a safe driving record - a Driver's Abstract is required (within 3 months)
• Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector (within 6 months)
