Job summary

Quilt, Inc. is seeking a compassionate Personal Support Worker to provide companionship and safety supervision for a gentleman in Burlington, ON. The role focuses on walking supervision with a walker, dementia care, and gentle redirection in an assisted living setting.

Responsibilities include accompanying him on walks, engaging in activities, and coordinating with family to ensure comfort and safety. The assignment is temporary, about two to three months, with morning/evening slots as listed.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting clients using mobility aids such as walkers.
• Strong dementia care and cognitive supervision skills.
• Patient, calm and positive demeanor.
• Ability to redirect gently without distress.
• Excellent communication with family members.
• Reliable and consistent caregiver.
• Comfortable working in assisted living settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide companionship and supervision to ensure safety during activities
• Accompany walks while ensuring the client uses his walker properly
• Redirect him back to his room when needed
• Walk with him to the lounge area for activities and pet therapy sessions
• Take him to the courtyard on nice days
• Monitor for wandering and fall risks
• Provide gentle reminders about using his walker
• Engage him in conversation and activities to reduce agitation
• Help him feel comfortable and calm in his environment
