Job description

The Provincial Director, Market Development and Partnerships is responsible for leading the organization’s market expansion, stakeholder engagement, business growth, and strategic partnership initiatives within an assigned province. The role serves as the provincial representative for market intelligence, relationship management, partnership development, and regional growth opportunities, ensuring alignment with the organization’s national and corporate objectives.

The Provincial Director works closely with the Director of Strategic Planning and Growth, provincial program teams, government agencies, private-sector organizations, community stakeholders, educational institutions, tourism operators, investors, and international partners to strengthen the organization’s presence and achieve sustainable growth across the province.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Market Development and Expansion Develop and implement provincial market development strategies aligned with corporate objectives. Identify new business opportunities, emerging markets, and growth sectors within the province. Conduct market research and competitor analysis to support strategic decision-making. Monitor industry trends, economic developments, and provincial market conditions. Recommend initiatives that increase market penetration and organizational visibility.
  2. Strategic Partnership Development Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with government agencies, corporations, educational institutions, community organizations, and industry stakeholders. Negotiate partnership agreements, memoranda of understanding (MOUs), and collaborative initiatives. Identify opportunities for joint ventures, sponsorships, strategic alliances, and cooperative programs. Strengthen relationships with existing partners to maximize mutual benefits and long-term collaboration.
  3. Stakeholder Engagement Serve as the primary provincial liaison between the organization and external stakeholders. Represent the organization at conferences, trade missions, networking events, exhibitions, and industry forums. Build strong relationships with community leaders, business associations, and economic development agencies. Promote the organization’s programs, services, and initiatives throughout the province.
  4. Business Development Support Support revenue-generating initiatives and growth opportunities within the province. Identify prospective clients, investors, sponsors, and institutional partners. Collaborate with provincial and national leadership teams to develop proposals and business opportunities. Assist in securing strategic contracts, agreements, and partnership opportunities.
  5. Provincial Strategic Planning Contribute to the development and implementation of provincial growth strategies. Prepare market development plans and annual partnership objectives. Establish measurable targets and performance indicators for market expansion activities. Monitor progress and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
  6. Team Leadership and Coordination Provide leadership and direction to provincial market development personnel and partnership officers. Coordinate cross-functional collaboration between operations, programs, marketing, and business development teams. Mentor staff and support professional development initiatives. Ensure provincial activities align with organizational policies and standards.
  7. Reporting and Performance Management Prepare regular reports on partnership activities, market opportunities, stakeholder engagement, and growth outcomes. Track partnership performance and return on investment. Maintain accurate records of stakeholder interactions and strategic initiatives. Present recommendations and strategic updates to senior leadership.
  8. Government and Institutional Relations Build productive relationships with provincial and municipal government departments. Identify government programs, grants, and funding opportunities that support organizational objectives. Participate in policy discussions and consultations relevant to the organization’s sector. Ensure compliance with applicable provincial regulations and partnership requirements.
