Job summary

VitalBio in Oakville, Ontario is seeking a hands-on engineer to support prototype instruments across hardware, firmware, and software. You will troubleshoot issues, perform maintenance, and contribute to reliability and QC programs on site.

The role requires a technical degree and practical experience with electromechanical systems, CAD tools, and diagnostic equipment. You will collaborate with R&D teams to turn feedback into improvements and help keep prototypes operating at peak performance.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Applied Physics, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related field.
Hands-on troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of electromechanical systems.
Strong organizational skills for tracking issues and tickets.
Clear written and verbal communication of technical findings.
Familiarity with hardware and software testing tools and diagnostic equipment.
Basic knowledge of quality control and reliability testing concepts.
Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
Team-oriented with ability to collaborate across engineering and end users.

Responsibilities

Log, track, and triage bugs and issues reported on prototype systems.
Perform root cause analysis and troubleshoot hardware, firmware, and software issues.
Carry out routine maintenance, repairs, and calibrations on prototypes.
Conduct quality control checks to ensure performance and reliability.
Provide training and support to internal users of prototype devices.
Document troubleshooting findings and communicate summaries to the dev team.
Work with engineering to implement solutions based on feedback.
Contribute to continuous improvement through testing and iterations.
Help design and maintain a safe, organized workspace.
