Job summary

Vital Bio in Ontario is seeking a hands-on engineer to operate and monitor complex electromechanical prototypes, integrate data, and ensure study protocols run with precision.

You will collaborate with chemists, biologists, and software engineers, automate data extraction, and document observations to maintain data integrity. This onsite role supports fast-paced product development and ongoing maintenance of prototype fleets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or college degree in Biomedical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Systems Engineering preferred
• Hands-on experience with sensors, actuators, or fluidic systems
• Scripting for data processing and basic hardware control
• Vigilant mindset with exceptional attention to detail
• Teamwork across engineering and scientific disciplines
• Clear, concise technical reporting and bug description writing

Responsibilities

• Study Execution: Run internal studies and verification and validation protocols on prototype instruments with precision
• Data Integrity: Guard data quality; monitor real-time performance and document observations to prevent corruption
• Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work with chemists, biologists, and software engineers to provide feedback and assist in troubleshooting
• Scripting & Automation: Use programming to automate data extraction, manage test sequences, and interface with hardware subsystems
• Technical Troubleshooting: Identify and document hardware malfunctions, software bugs, or fluidic issues; collaborate to resolve
• Maintenance: Calibrate and maintain delicate mechanical and optical components to keep prototypes test-ready
