Job summary

As part of this commitment, Community Mobile Units (CMUs) provide enhanced Protective Services coverage across Calgary and nearby surrounding communities where dedicated on-site resources are not always available.This is a unique opportunity to work in a mobile role that offers variety, autonomy, and meaningful impact. CMU Officers deliver responsive patrol coverage across a defined service area, ensuring timely support where it is needed most. In this role, you will actively contribute to a safer healthcare environment by preventing and responding to incidents, applying de-escalation techniques, and working collaboratively with local law enforcement and community partners to mitigate risk. As a multi-site role, assignments are based on operational requirements.Ideal for individuals who are adaptable, proactive, and confident working independently, this position allows you to build strong decision-making skills while operating in diverse environments. As a Protective Services Officer II, you will provide security and protective services for all patients, visitors, staff and AHS property including: violence monitoring, prevention and intervention; enforcement of applicable federal, provincial and municipal statutes; asset loss prevention and internal investigations; preparation of court documents and securing evidence; risk assessment and hazard identification; arrests, apprehensions and detentions of persons and first responder to critical events. You will provide support for facility departments on matters of security and safety practices, participates in reviewing and recommending policy, and fosters and maintains positive public relations through relationships with internal and external contacts.

Required Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent.Active (or eligible) for appointment as a Community Peace Officer with enforcement duties involving the public, as identified by the Province of Alberta/Solicitor General.Successful completion of Alberta Health Services or Alberta Justice and Solicitor General Community Peace Officer Induction Training Program (6 weeks program).Valid Class 5 (non-GDL) Driver's Licence.Valid Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation (P.A.R.E.) completed under 4:45 minute, within 6 months prior to commencing employment.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Emergency First Aid and CPR.

Preferred Qualifications:

A minimum two years of related work experience OR a related degree or diploma in Criminology, Criminal Justice, Sociology, or Psychology. Other related education may be considered.Experience in uniformed public servant roles or emergency services.Community involvement or volunteering (unpaid positions).Comfortable and experienced with public speaking.
