Rate of Pay: $57.71/hr

Position Purpose

Reporting to the Supervisor, Protection & Controls, the P&C Technologist is responsible for ensuring the operational functionality of critical components that enable Alectra’s electrical distribution system. These include SCADA, Ethernet Communication Networks, Protection Schemes, Voice Radio Systems, and remote controllable devices at stations and in the field.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor system performance, analyze abnormalities, and initiate remedial actions to maintain system integrity and reliability.
  • Identify opportunities for system performance improvements and recommend enhancements.
  • Provide technical support for designing capital projects related to protection and control systems, liaising with external agencies.
  • Conduct verification and calibration of protection systems in compliance with IESO requirements.
  • Manage SCADA system software and hardware to ensure reliable control and system security, supporting internal and external customers.
  • Install, document, test, and commission capital projects, coordinating with trades and supervising subcontractors to ensure standards and safety compliance.
  • Assess risks and hazards at job sites, enforce safety procedures, and ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Participate in training apprentices and co-op students, organize daily work schedules, and perform maintenance activities.
  • Maintain knowledge of safety legislation, policies, and procedures, reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
Education & Specialized Knowledge
  • Minimum Diploma in Electrical or Electronics Engineering Technology.
  • CCENT and CCNA Routing and Switching certifications are assets.
Experience
  • Minimum five (5) years related experience.
  • DZ Driver’s License.
  • Ability to solve complex problems.
  • Advanced skills in programming, logic design, communication protocols, and software applications.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act, EUSR rules, the Utility Work Protection Code, and ESA regulations.
  • Commitment to ongoing training and improvement in relevant technical areas.
