Job summary

Shermco Canada is seeking a Protection & Control Technician III for field-based work across British Columbia. You will independently test, commission, maintain, and troubleshoot protection and control systems for critical infrastructure and lead assigned field activities.

Ideal candidates have a diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field with 3–5 years of protection and control experience, strong relay knowledge, and the ability to mentor junior technicians while meeting

Qualifications

• Three to five years of protection and control testing experience.
• Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent.
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and customer communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Test, commission, maintain, and troubleshoot protection and control systems.
• Perform relay testing and logic verification on microprocessor-based relays.
• Interpret AC/DC schematics, relay logic, and protection diagrams.
• Lead field activities during outages, maintenance, and commissioning projects.
• Prepare test procedures, technical reports, and corrective-action recommendations.
• Communicate findings to customers and project stakeholders.
• Review work and provide guidance to junior technicians.
