Job summary

Pinchin Ltd in Greater Toronto Area is seeking a Project Technologist / Senior Project Technologist to join our Hazardous Materials team. This role focuses on hazardous materials assessments, reporting, and client collaboration to protect people and the environment.

You will work from Mississauga, ON in a hybrid full-time setup, with mentorship and opportunities to grow within environmental services, building science, and safety. Relevant degree and up to five years of experience are desired.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Construction Technology, Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering, or related science
  • 1–5 years of practical Hazardous Materials experience
  • Knowledge of environmental and health and safety legislation
  • Experience reading architectural drawings
  • Experience using environmental monitoring equipment
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Responsibilities

  • Complete assessments for hazardous materials and workplace exposures
  • Conduct client interviews about building history and concerns
  • Perform inspections and evaluate building systems and materials
  • Prepare detailed reports and provide recommendations
  • Inspect abatement contractors and document work completion
  • Collect and analyze PCM asbestos air samples
  • Liaise between clients and contractors to maintain relationships
  • Support training of junior staff

Pinchin is seeking a Project Technologist / Senior Project Technologist to join our Hazardous Materials team in Greater Toronto Area. Reporting to the Team Leader, this replacement role offers an opportunity to apply your expertise and uphold our commitment to excellence.

Role Overview

This role is more than inspections; it’s about shaping safer, healthier, and more sustainable spaces for people and communities. As a Project Technologist / Senior Project Technologist, you’ll contribute to critical health and safety initiatives by developing hygiene documentation, preparing technical reports, and working closely with clients to meet their goals.

Your Role and Action
  • Complete assessments for hazardous materials, designated substances and workplace exposures
  • Conduct interviews with clients regarding building history and site-specific client concerns
  • Perform inspections and evaluate building systems and materials
  • Use various types of equipment to record measurements and collect various samples
  • Identify and sample suspect asbestos, lead, and PCB-containing materials
  • Prepare detailed reports documenting findings and providing recommendations to address hazardous materials concerns
  • Inspect abatement and restoration contractors undertaking asbestos and other hazardous materials abatement work to document that the work has been properly completed
  • Collect and analyze Phase Contract Microscope (PCM) asbestos air samples
  • Business development to existing clients
  • Maintain and enhance quality control within the group
  • Liaise between clients and contractors; maintaining existing client relationships and building new ones
  • Schedule field reviews with clients and contractors
  • Ensure the well-being and safety of workers and building occupants where Pinchin projects are present
  • May support in training junior staff

  • A diploma or degree in Construction Technology or Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering, Bachelor of Science or Applied Science
  • Entry level to 5 years of practical experience in the field of Hazardous Materials (Asbestos, Mould, Lead, PCBs, etc.)
  • E.T. or related designations will be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of environmental and health and safety legislation/guidelines
  • Familiarity with building systems (structure, envelope, HVAC, electrical, plumbing etc.)
  • Experience reading and interpreting architectural drawings
  • Experience working with environmental monitoring equipment
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with an ability to follow detailed
