Job summary

Pinchin Canada is seeking a Project Technologist to join the HAZ/IEQ team in Barrie, Ontario. This role focuses on hazardous materials investigations, indoor environmental quality projects, and fieldwork across the region.

You will collect data, prepare technical reports, supervise subcontractors, and liaise with clients to ensure health and safety standards, accurate documentation, and timely project delivery.

Qualifications

  • College diploma in Environmental, Construction, or Architectural Technology, or a BSc/BASc in Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Experience with building construction or maintenance is an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle; able to travel to client sites.
  • Availability to work outside core hours, including weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct site investigations for hazardous materials (asbestos, mould, lead, mercury, PCBs, IAQ, etc.).
  • Assess building damage related to floods, water losses, fire, and smoke.
  • Collect, interpret, and analyze building materials and air samples.
  • Inspect and document abatement and restoration work to confirm completion.
  • Coordinate and supervise sub-contractors during remediation activities.
  • Prepare clear, accurate technical reports and manage project timelines.
  • Liaise with clients and contractors to ensure health and safety and strong relationships.

Pinchin is seeking a Project Technologist to join our HAZ/IEQ team in Barrie. The role reports to the Operations Manager.

Department Overview

In this position, you will play an important role in helping clients create safer and healthier spaces. Your work will support projects that protect workers, improve building performance, and strengthen the health and resilience of communities. You will assess conditions in the field, gather accurate data, and translate your findings into clear recommendations that help clients make informed decisions. You will collaborate closely with colleagues and clients to understand their goals and deliver solutions that reflect quality, integrity, and care. This is meaningful work with real impact, and you will grow your skills while contributing to projects that make buildings and environments better.

Your Role and Actions
  • Conduct site investigations for hazardous materials (asbestos, mould, lead, mercury, PCBs, IAQ, industrial hygiene, etc.)
  • Assess building damage related to floods, water losses, fire, and smoke
  • Collect, interpret, and analyze building material and air samples, including PCM asbestos air samples
  • Inspect and document abatement and restoration work to confirm proper completion
  • Coordinate and supervise sub-contractors during remediation activities
  • Interpret analytical results against legislative requirements and industry guidelines
  • Prepare clear, accurate technical reports and manage project timelines efficiently
  • Liaise with clients and contractors to ensure health, safety, hygiene, and strong client relationships
What You Bring To The Pinchin Team
  • College diploma in Environmental, Construction, or Architectural Technology, or a BSc / BASc in Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Experience with building construction or maintenance considered an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Self-directed, mature, and highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, drawings, and reports
  • Valid driver’s license, insurance, and access to a personal vehicle; able to travel to client sites
  • Availability to work outside core business hours, including occasional weekends
