Job summary

Pinchin Ltd in Sudbury or Timmins, Ontario is seeking a Project Technologist to join the Environmental Due Diligence & Remediation team. You will support Phase I and Phase II ESAs, assist with RSC work, and help with field data collection and reporting.

The role emphasizes collaboration, precise documentation, and adherence to CSA Phase I & II ESAs and Ontario Regulation 153/04, with travel across Ontario and occasional after-hours work as needed.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional designation (P.Eng or P.Geo) is considered an asset.
  • Experience in environmental consulting or a related technical role is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Ontario Regulation 153/04 and CSA Phase I & II Environmental Site Assessment Standards.
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills, with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Valid driver’s license, insurance, and access to a personal vehicle (travel reimbursed).
  • Willingness to travel within Ontario, with occasional travel elsewhere in Ontario.
  • Flexibility to work outside standard business hours as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Support and perform Phase I and Phase II ESAs per CSA Standards and Ontario Regulation 153/04.
  • Conduct soil, groundwater, and soil vapour sampling, groundwater monitoring, and field data collection.
  • Assist with RSC-related activities, including site investigations and documentation.
  • Monitor and support remediation activities, including UST removals and excavations.
  • Review historical, regulatory, and site-specific information and records.
  • Prepare and contribute to technical reports, figures, tables, and supporting docs.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, laboratories, site reps, and internal teams.
  • Follow health, safety, and quality procedures during field and office work.

Pinchin is seeking a Project Technologist to join our Environmental Due Diligence & Remediation team in Sudbury or Timmins. The role reports to the Team Leader.

Role Overview

The Project Technologist, Environmental Due Diligence & Remediation (EDR), supports a wide range of environmental assessment and remediation projects related to property transactions, redevelopment, and regulatory compliance. This role works closely with Project Managers and senior technical staff to deliver Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, support Record of Site Condition (RSC) work, and assist with remediation and monitoring programs across Ontario.

Your Role and Action
  • Support and perform Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) in accordance with CSA Standards and Ontario Regulation 153/04
  • Conduct soil, groundwater, and soil vapour sampling, groundwater monitoring, and field data collection activities
  • Assist with Record of Site Condition (RSC)‑related activities, including site investigations, documentation, and supporting technical deliverables
  • Monitor and support remediation activities, including underground storage tank (UST) removals and remedial excavations
  • Review historical, regulatory, and site‑specific information (e.g., aerial photographs, drawings, and records)
  • Prepare and contribute to technical reports, figures, tables, and supporting documentation
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, laboratories, site representatives, and internal project teams
  • Follow established health, safety, and quality procedures during field and office work
