Job summary

The Byng Group is seeking a Project Scheduler to join our Operations team in Vaughan. The role focuses on developing and maintaining daily and master schedules for multi-family renovation projects, coordinating contractor assignments, and supporting client communication related to scheduling activities.

You will work closely with Project Managers, trades, and clients to ensure projects are delivered on time, addressing scheduling impacts and optimizing work sequences and timelines.

Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with scheduling tools and business systems.
  • Experience in construction scheduling or project coordination.
  • PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP) is an asset.
  • Advanced proficiency with ERP systems and project management databases.

Responsibilities

  • Create and revise master schedules for renovation projects.
  • Maintain master schedule and communicate impacts of progress or delays.
  • Provide regular schedule updates, forecasts and reports.
  • Oversee scheduling activities and report status to teams and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with operations, clients and subcontractors on schedule impacts.
  • Develop working schedules for estimating and proposal timelines.
  • Prepare and issue proposals and preliminary schedules as required.
  • Support resolution of complex scheduling challenges.
  • Assist project managers with short-term schedules and corrective actions.
  • Provide schedule analysis including critical path and progress measurements.

Job description

We are seeking a Project Scheduler to join our Operations team. Reporting directly to the Director of Ops Services, the Project Scheduler is responsible for developing and maintaining daily and master schedules for multi-family renovation projects, coordinating contractor assignments, and supporting client communication related to scheduling activities.

In this fast-paced role, the Project Scheduler facilitates effective communication and coordination among Project Managers, contractors, trades, skilled labourers, and clients to help ensure renovation projects are delivered efficiently and on schedule. A strong working relationship with trades and subcontractors is considered a definite asset.

Responsibilities

  • Create and revise preliminary master schedules prior to project start, outlining the sequence of work to be performed by Operations.
  • Maintain the master schedule for each project and identify, record, and communicate the impact of work completed or delayed against the schedule.
  • Evaluate actual construction progress and provide regular schedule updates, forecasts, and reports as required.
  • Oversee project scheduling activities and provide timely status updates to internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Operations, property owners, clients, subcontractors, and trades to address schedule impacts and support the resolution of project-related issues.
  • Contribute to the development of working schedules for estimating prior to proposal dates, ensuring schedules clearly illustrate work sequencing and contract timelines.
  • Prepare and issue proposals and preliminary schedules as required.
  • Serve as a technical scheduling resource to support the resolution of complex production or coordination challenges.
  • Assist Project Managers in creating short-term schedules, monitoring progress, assessing impacts on the master schedule, and supporting corrective action plans.
  • Provide scheduling information and analysis, including schedule modifications, critical path analysis, alternate schedules, and progress measurement.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of related work experience in the construction industry or in a project scheduling role.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing competing priorities.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with scheduling tools and business systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and make timely, sound decisions.
  • Experience in property management is considered an asset.
  • Certification as a PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP) is considered an asset.
  • Advanced proficiency with project scheduling applications, ERP systems, and project management database systems is preferred.
  • Analytical: Able to assess project timelines, identify scheduling risks, and interpret progress data to support informed decision-making.
  • Problem Solving: Proactively identifies scheduling conflicts, evaluates options, and supports practical solutions to keep projects moving forward.
  • Communication: Clearly communicates schedule expectations, updates, and impacts to Project Managers, contractors, clients, and internal stakeholders.
