Job description

Contract Duration: 12 months with a possibility of extension/conversion to permanent
Working Hours: M-F 35 hours per week
Pay Rate: $60-80/hour
Job Title: Project Scheduler
Summary of Scope of Work and Deliverables

Providing construction scheduling and planning services for assigned projects. This involves:

  • Develop and maintain different levels of schedules in accordance with project framework
  • Develop, maintain, and manage the project baseline schedule in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Review and validate the contractor's proposed schedules, ensuring logic, sequencing, and durations are realistic and aligned with project objectives.
  • Conduct detailed reviews of the contractor’s monthly schedule updates, including progress measurement, critical path analysis, and variance reporting.
  • Prepare and evaluate Recovery Schedules and Revised Baseline Schedules when required due to delays or scope changes.
  • Perform Schedule Delay Analysis and Time Impact Analysis (TIA) to assess the impact of changes, disruptions, or unforeseen events on project timelines.
  • Support claims analysis by providing schedule data, delay narratives, and supporting documentation.
  • Monitor project progress against the approved baseline and identify potential risks, slippages, and opportunities for schedule optimization.
  • Coordinate with the site teams and stakeholders to ensure schedule alignment and timely communication of schedule risks.
  • Ensure all scheduling activities comply with project controls standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Utilize industry-standard scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) to develop and manage schedules.
Qualifications and Experience

Qualification and Experience Requirements for the Project Scheduler position:

  • In-depth knowledge of planning and scheduling principles/methods through project lifecycle, Earned Value Management (EVM), contractual terms, scheduling clauses, and good understanding of integration between costs, schedule and scope.
  • Minimum of five (5) years in construction and infrastructure scheduling with hands-on experience, managing large amounts of data, planning/developing baseline schedules and providing updates in a deadline driven environment.
  • Experience with construction sites and collaborating with field teams, performing delay analysis and claims preparation.
  • Understanding of both project owner and project execution requirements with experience across various construction sectors (Rail, Transit and civil, infrastructure)
  • Hands-on experience with reviewing technical documents (schedules and estimates, drawings, design basis,) for the purpose of understanding the project scope and development of the detailed schedule with resources and costs
  • Advanced level knowledge of Primavera P6 and MS Project
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to be recognized and serve as an expert to project teams to provide technical guidance and recommendations.
  • Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
Formal education/training through which skills normally acquired:

Completion of a post-secondary college diploma and/or university degree in a related technical or business discipline (e.g. engineering, construction management, project management), and progressive experience in planning and scheduling and/or project management; or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
