Job summary

Plan Group, Inc. in Ottawa, ON is seeking a Project Scheduler to develop and implement schedules for electrical and/or mechanical construction projects to ensure deadlines are met. The role requires strong communication and leadership to influence team performance and project delivery.

You will create schedules, build WBS, develop CPM, review critical paths, analyze changes, and support management with reporting and client communications. Ontario-based projects with a collaborative team culture.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field or Journeyman license is an asset.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and technical specifications.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience as a Construction Scheduler.
  • Combination of education, training and relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Create, update and maintain electrical and/or mechanical construction schedules.
  • Create commissioning schedules.
  • Create work breakdown structures.
  • Develop CPM (Critical Path Method).
  • Review critical path, cost loading, schedule content.
  • Identify relationships, constraints and milestones in the schedule.
  • Perform schedule impact analysis for change orders.
  • QA/QC review of schedule submissions for conformance.
  • Prepare reports as directed by management and participate in site reviews.
  • Provide recovery plans with department heads and support PM with client reports.

It’s an opportunity to be responsible for thedevelopment and implementation of schedules for electrical and/or mechanical construction projects to help ensure that projects are completed according to contract.To truly excel in this role you are able to communicate effectively with both internal and external clients. You have the ability to leverage your strong communication and leadership skills to positively influence others and drive for results.

This opportunity is located in Ottawa, ON.

AsProject Scheduleryou will be asked to do the following:

  • Create, update and maintain electrical and/or mechanical construction schedule.
  • Create commissioning schedules.
  • Create work breakdown structures.
  • Develop Critical Path Method (CPM)
  • Review critical path, cost loading, schedule content.
  • Identify relationships, constraints and milestones with project work schedule.
  • Perform schedule impact analysis for change orders.
  • QA/QC review of schedule submissions for conformance.
  • Prepare reports as needed and directed by Management.
  • Participate in site reviews and project kick off meetings as needed.
  • Regular updates of the schedules, highlighting to all involved parts the issues, risks and chances on the project such as, but not limited to: changes in critical path, resources shortages, payment milestones, liquidated damages, quality issues impacting the schedule, bottlenecks.
  • Collaborate with Department Heads (and/or Directors) to define recovery plans for the issues identified on the item above.
  • Support Project Manager with customer reports, presentations and meetings related to scheduling and delivery performance.
  • Other duties will be assigned based operational requirements.

Our ideal candidate has:

  • Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma as Electrical Technician/ Electrical Technologist, or Journeyman License in Electrical, Plumbing or Sheetmetal is an asset
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and technical specifications
  • Strong communication skills both written and oral
  • Minimum 7years of experience as a Construction Scheduler
  • Can be a combination of education, training and relevant experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Working knowledge of Primavera P6
  • Experience in use of MS Project, CPM Primavera, Construction Cost Scheduling
  • Have demonstrated skill in identifying, analyzing and solving problems
  • Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary
  • Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude
  • Effective oral and written communication skills as required for the position
  • Ability to be self-motivated, proactive and an effective team player
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others
