Job summary

Finney-Taylor Consulting Group Ltd. is seeking an experienced Project Manager in Edmonton to lead complex transmission and substation construction projects.

You will coordinate internal and external stakeholders, manage budgets, and ensure safe, compliant execution from start to finish. The role requires a background in engineering, 5+ years of PM experience in utility construction, and familiarity with RFPs, tendering, and contract negotiations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent with 10+ years of experience.
• 5+ years of project management experience in utility construction.
• Experience with utility construction in energized substations and knowledge of hazards and safe work practices.
• Understanding and experience with permitting environmental assessments and stakeholder engagement.
• Thorough understanding and experience of PMBOK-based project management processes and procedures.
• PMP designation is highly desirable.
• Experience with Alberta Electric System Operator project lifecycle is desirable.
• Experience in major equipment and construction services procurement including RFP development, tendering, evaluating, contract negotiations and contract administration.

Responsibilities

• Oversee complex, multi-disciplinary transmission and substation construction projects coordinating stakeholders, consultants, contractors and teams.
• Participate in procurement activities including RFPs, bid evaluations, contract negotiations and awards.
• Drive project execution strategies for safe, efficient and cost-effective delivery.
• Promote EPCOR's HSE commitment and environmental excellence.
• Ensure hazards are identified and safe work plans implemented in all phases.
• Maintain project records, reporting and governance in EPCOR systems.

Must Have Primary Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; or a relevant technical certificate or diploma with10+ years of relevant experience;
• 5+ years of project management experience, in Utility Construction environment;
• Experience with utility construction in energized substations and knowledgeable inthe hazards and appropriate safe work practices;
• Understanding and experience with project permitting environmental assessments and stakeholder engagement;
• Thorough understanding and experience of foundation Project Management processes and procedures aligned with the Project Management Body of Knowledge;
• Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is highly desirable; and
• Experience and knowledge around Alberta Electric System Operator project lifecycle is highly desirable; and
• Experience in major equipment and construction services procurement including;
• Request for Proposal development, tendering, evaluating, contract negotiations and contract administration.

Proven Experience In

The Project Manager is accountable for all aspects of project delivery fromconstruction execution through commissioning and project close-out, including:

• Oversee the execution of complex, multi-disciplinary transmission and substationconstruction projects, coordinating internal and external stakeholders, consultants,contractors, and project teams to deliver project objectives safely, efficiently, andcost-effectively.
• Participate in procurement activities including the development of RFPs, bidevaluations, contract negotiations, and contract award recommendations
• Drive project execution strategies that support safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery
• Promote and demonstrate EPCOR's commitment to health, safety, and environmental excellence.
• Ensure hazards are identified, risks are mitigated, and safe work plans are implemented throughout all phases of project execution.
• Ensure compliance with applicable Occupational Health and Safety legislation and EPCOR HSE policies and procedures.
• Participate in field activities such as project field kick-offs, project walk-downs, and HSE inspections during construction; and
• Maintain accurate project records, reporting, and governance documentation withinEPCOR systems including Oracle Projects, IVARA Work Management,eScheduler, SharePoint, and ProjectWise.
• Manage project budgets according to EPCOR's Capital Investment Policy,maintain forecasts, and complete change approvals
• Develop, monitor, and maintain project schedules, forecasts, and recovery plans.
