The Design and Construction Municipal Branch is responsible for engineering services, design and construction management, and other related technical and professional services.
You manage total project delivery using in-house and/or external resources for infrastructure construction and rehabilitation projects, including roadways, transitways, structures, sewers, watermains, pumping stations, treatment works, drainage works, lighting, solid waste/landfill sites, cycling facilities, traffic calming, transit improvements, streetscaping and related underground utilities.
You are responsible for: managing multiple projects for all phases of the project delivery, from project inception through consultant selection (where applicable), public consultation, environmental assessments, pre-design, detailed design, tendering, and award, to construction; monitoring, tracking and reporting on project status; approving all project expenditures; arranging all project related testing; and handling commissioning/turnover to operating branches.
You also: participate in project identification, prioritization and planning; organize the conduct of environmental impact assessment and other studies and all stages of the project lifecycle; contribute to the review/development of department engineering standards; and carry out other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCECompletion of 4 year university degree in Engineering or Applied Science or equivalent
Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the planning, design and construction of municipal infrastructure, including a minimum of 3 years of project management experience
