Summary
The Lead Infrastructure Specialist is responsible for providing level 2/3 technical support for cloud solutions.
Responsibilities
- Receive service desk tickets from end users and provides level 2/3 technical support related to Cloud environments;
- Receive escalations from technical support;
- Manage cloud environments, including but not limited to cloud networking (VPCs), cloud servers, identity and access management, container hosting, storage, and compute environments;
- Coordinate regular maintenance to ensure cloud environments are properly updated and secured;
- Debug issues with cloud hosted environments and apply corrective actions;
- Compile/implement system design for cloud systems, including deployment via scripting and console mechanisms;
- Provide recommendations to the IT Manager based on problems or requests reported to IT Support;
- Work with vendors or other technical resources to troubleshoot support issues;
- Plan and manage the installation, configuration, and upgrade of company software applications hosted on or interacting with cloud solutions;
- Maintain contact with employees until issues have been resolved;
- Provide technical assistance and training to users;
- Create SOPs and change management documentation for new IT systems;
- Install and configure operating systems when necessary;
- Develop systems and tools for deployment and asset management;
- Update the inventory of systems and assets of the company;
- Perform system monitoring, including log review;
- Resolve network/telecommunications related issues with remote users;
- Troubleshoot and maintain systems such as Sharepoint, Teams, or other applications;
- Create scripts (Terraform, Powershell, etc.);
- Comply with company SOPs and identify noncompliant systems or processes.
Education
- Degree in a computer-related or other STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) field.
Main Requirements
- More than 6 years in IT;
- Proven experience in administering AWS environments, including deployment, troubleshooting, maintenance, and cost optimization, as well as AWS identity management knowledge - required;
- Strong knowledge of cloud networking / VPCs;
- Experience with Linux environments required. Linux deployment and administration knowledge preferred;
- Experience with deployment using CI/CD techniques, as well as use of Terraform scripting strongly preferred;
- Experience with CloudFormation, Kubernetes, and DevOps tools preferred;
- Experience monitoring with tools such as CloudWatch preferred;
- Experience with Microsoft Azure a plus;
- Excellent customer service skills;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Individual must be independent, resourceful, good aptitude for problem solving.
Working Conditions
- This is a remote role open to candidates located in Eastern or Atlantic Time Zones within Canada.
