Job summary

Kinark Child and Family Services in Markham, ON is seeking a Project Manager, HCM Transformation to lead enterprise HCM modernization initiatives. The role requires experience with Dayforce/Workday and coordinating cross-functional teams across HR, Payroll, IT, and Finance.

The position is hybrid, with two days in the office per week and a 35-hour workweek. Start date is September 30, 2026, with a temporary end date of September 30, 2027.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive project management in enterprise transformation.
  • Experience with HCM modernization and cloud-based SaaS e.g., Dayforce/Workday.
  • Healthcare or not-for-profit sector experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Job Description

Project Manager, HCM Transformation

The hourly pay range for this position is $39.31/hr to $49.14/hr CAD.
This role is assessed as a Roamer position requiring minimal days in the office (2 days per week) unless business demands require.

Duties and Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Delivery
  • Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, and successful delivery of enterprise HCM modernization projects.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, budgets, milestones, resource plans, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Manage project governance activities and provide regular status updates, executive briefings, and steering committee reports.
  • Ensure project deliverables are completed within agreed scope, timeline, quality standards, and budget requirements.
  • Identify, assess, and manage project risks, issues, dependencies, and change requests.
HCM Implementation & Vendor Management
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Kinark and the HCM implementation vendor, ensuring implementation activities progress according to agreed timelines and project objectives.
  • Collaborate with vendor implementation teams to evaluate solutions and address payroll, HR, workforce management, reporting, and customer service requirements.
  • Monitor vendor performance, deliverables, contractual commitments, and implementation milestones.
  • Facilitate requirements gathering, solution validation, testing, cutover planning, and post-go-live support activities.
Stakeholder Engagement & Change Management
  • Partner with leaders and key decision-makers across departments to understand how new HCM processes and technologies will impact their operations.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement activities and build alignment across HR, Payroll, Finance, Information Technology, Operations, and Leadership teams.
  • Develop and execute organizational change management strategies that support employee readiness, adoption, and sustained business outcomes.
  • Facilitate workshops, working sessions, and decision-making meetings with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Create and coordinate communication, training, and knowledge transfer activities to support successful organizational adoption.
Business Process Transformation
  • Lead current-state and future-state business process assessments across HR and Payroll functions.
  • Facilitate business process mapping and process redesign activities to align organizational practices with HCM best practices.
  • Support the development of governance structures, policies, business standards, and performance measures related to HCM operations.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, operational efficiencies, and enhanced employee experience.
Continuous Improvement
  • Monitor emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in HCM, payroll, workforce management, and change management.
  • Support post-implementation optimization initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Recommend solutions and improvements to maximize value from HCM technology investments.
Qualifications and Skills
Education & Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Information Technology, Project Management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification preferred.
  • Change Management certification (Prosci or equivalent) preferred.
Experience
  • 7+ years of progressive project management experience leading complex enterprise transformation initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-phased, multi-year HCM modernization or Human Resources technology implementation projects.
  • Experience in healthcare, not-for-profit, broader public sector, or ministry-funded environments strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience managing organizational change involving people, process, and technology transformation.
  • Experience working with Dayforce is strongly preferred, and other cloud-based SaaS HCM platforms such as Workday, UKG, Oracle HCM, SAP SuccessFactors, or similar solutions.
  • Experience working with external implementation partners, system integrators, and software vendors.
Technical & Professional Skills
  • Strong understanding of HCM implementation methodologies, project delivery frameworks, and system deployment best practices.
  • Skilled in building and maintaining productive relationships with implementation partners and vendors to ensure high-quality deliverables and successful project outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience in business process mapping, workflow analysis, and business transformation initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of HR, Payroll, Time and Attendance, Workforce Management, and related business processes.
  • Experience managing software implementations in SaaS/Cloud computing environments.
  • Understanding of relational databases and SQL considered an asset.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive results within matrixed reporting structures.
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Project.
