Role description:

We’re hiring Project Managers in Ontario and British Columbia to support our Environmental Restoration team at Arcadis. Multiple opportunities are available. The ideal candidate will have exceptional project management skills and a proven ability to successfully deliver complex projects, ensuring scope, schedule, and budget requirements are met. While technical knowledge is valuable, this role primarily emphasizes leadership, organizational excellence, and the ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams and client relationships effectively.

As a Project Manager, you will lead environmental projects in contaminated site assessment, remediation, and monitoring, specializing in managing scopes, schedules, budgets, and risks. You’ll provide leadership to project teams, ensure compliance with provincial and federal regulations, and drive client-focused solutions.

This is a hybrid role with flexibility to work remotely or from an Arcadis office, with travel required for project meetings, site visits, and team collaboration. At Arcadis, we’re committed to supporting work-life balance and career growth, offering mentorship and opportunities for advancement.

Role accountabilities:

In this role, your primary focus will be on project management excellence. You will manage small, large, and complex environmental projects, including defining scope, developing schedules, controlling budgets, evaluating risks, and implementing mitigation strategies. You will oversee multi-disciplinary teams, provide mentorship to junior and intermediate staff, and foster collaboration and innovation within the group while building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, ensuring project deliverables meet their expectations and align with their goals.

  • Quality and Compliance: Ensure projects adhere to corporate policies, procedures, and regulatory frameworks, while maintaining high standards of quality assurance and control.
  • Resource Management: Coordinate technical resources, field programs, and subcontractors, ensuring efficient use of project resources.
  • Reporting and Communication: Prepare and review project reports, proposals, and work plans, ensuring clear and timely communication with clients and stakeholders.
  • Business Development Support: Collaborate on business development initiatives, including responding to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Expressions of Interest (EOIs), and Statements of Qualifications (SOQs).

Key Attributes & Requirements

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:

  • Project Management Expertise: Proven ability to manage all aspects of project delivery, including scope, schedule, budget, risks, and client relations.
  • Leadership Skills: Experience mentoring and supervising team members, fostering collaboration, and driving high-quality outcomes.
  • Client-Focused Approach: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build trust and deliver results for clients across sectors such as oil and gas, mining, power, infrastructure, and government.
  • Industry Knowledge and Regulatory Awareness: Familiarity with contaminated site projects, environmental risk assessments, and remediation efforts is an asset; working knowledge of provincial and federal environmental compliance guidelines and legislation (e.g., CCME).
  • Adaptability: Willingness to travel to project sites and meetings as required.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geoscience, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of project management experience in environmental projects, including contaminated sites, remediation, and monitoring.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.), or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) or similar designations are preferred but not required.

The successful candidate will have strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to manage complex project portfolios and client relationships.
