Creating safe, sustainable municipal infrastructure that makes Toronto so livable is the responsibility of our Engineering & Construction Services (ECS) Division , which provides specialized engineering design and construction services to Toronto Water, Transportation Services, Solid Waste Management Services, and other City of Toronto Divisions, Agencies, Boards, and Commissions, as well as external clients such as the development industry, utility companies, and other public agencies.

As a Project Manager in Linear Underground Infrastructure, you’ll provide project management and engineering support to ensure reliable, economical, and effective / efficient City-wide engineering services. This includes technical review and support for planning, design, and operation of the Division's programs and projects.

Design and Construction - Linear Underground Infrastructure

Staff in the Linear Underground Stormwater Management Infrastructure Unit provide project management, contract administration, and technical expertise in planning, design, and construction of linear capital works projects. This involves water resources principles related to stream bed and bank erosion, infrastructure protection, and environmental assessments.

Full Project Management Accountabilities

Managing stormwater projects, directing project teams, ensuring deadlines are met, maintaining high work standards, and managing budgets. Responsibilities include defining project scope, engaging consultants and contractors, reviewing technical documents, and assisting in budget preparation.

Sharing and Promoting Technical Expertise

Keeping current with technological developments, providing technical advice, and evaluating new systems and procedures to enhance performance.

Managing Stakeholder Expectations and Communications

Effective communication with various stakeholders, representing the City on committees, and liaising with the public and other agencies about projects and programs.

Key Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in civil, environmental, or water resources engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with natural channel design related to municipal infrastructure.
• Project management experience from inception to implementation.

Additional skills include knowledge of legislation, standards, and the ability to interpret engineering documents. Ability to conduct studies, develop solutions, and lead technical projects.
