Job summary

RONI Group is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead municipal and heavy civil infrastructure projects in Ontario, including sewer, watermain, storm sewer, and road reconstruction. Job description

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Project Manager to oversee municipal and heavy civil infrastructure projects specializing in sewer, watermain, storm sewer, road reconstruction, and underground utility construction. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing projects from contract award through final completion while ensuring safety, quality, budget, schedule, and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management

  • Manage multiple civil construction projects simultaneously.
  • Oversee all phases of project execution from pre-construction to closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules.
  • Monitor project budgets, forecasts, and profitability.
  • Review drawings, specifications, contracts, and tender documents.
  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare and submit monthly project reports.

Client Relations

  • Maintain strong relationships with municipal clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Attend project meetings.
  • Lead progress meetings with owners and consultants.
  • Resolve project issues professionally and efficiently.
  • Track project costs and productivity.
  • Review labour, equipment, material, and subcontractor costs.
  • Prepare change orders and negotiate extras.
  • Review subcontractor invoices.
  • Assist with monthly billings and payment applications.
  • Forecast project revenue and cash flow.

Field Operations

  • Work closely with Site Superintendents and Forepersons.
  • Ensure projects are adequately staffed and resourced.
  • Monitor production and productivity.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Perform regular site visits.

Quality Control

  • Ensure work meets contract specifications and municipal standards.
  • Coordinate inspections and testing.
  • Review deficiency lists and ensure timely completion.
  • Maintain project documentation and records.

Contract Administration

  • Review contracts and identify risks.
  • Prepare RFIs, change notices, and claims.
  • Maintain document control throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Minimum 5 years of Project Management experience in heavy civil construction.
  • Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • Extensive experience with sewer, watermain, storm sewer, road reconstruction, and underground utilities.
  • Strong understanding of municipal specifications and standards.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.

Preferred

  • Gold Seal Certification.
  • Experience with municipal infrastructure projects throughout Ontario.
  • Experience managing projects valued from $1 million to $50+ million.
