As a Project Manager, your responsibilities will cover multiple projects in Victoria and across Vancouver Island. You will form partnerships both internally and externally and will be integral to developing and executing project delivery strategy. You will manage financial and technical aspects of all projects through the full project lifecycle from early project phase, proposals and business development activities, to overseeing engineering, design & approvals to office assistance for contract administration and construction.

This is an in-office position based out of Victoria, British Columbia and, while we welcome applicants from across Canada, successful candidates will be expected to be located within the southern Vancouver Island region. Relocation assistance to Victoria will be considered.

Why choose WSP?

  • A phenomenal collaborative culture and a workforce filled with genuinely good people who are doing humbly important work. Come find out for yourself what it's like to be a part of our journey.

We offer attractive pay, flexible work options, a great corporate culture, comprehensive and employee-focused benefits including virtual healthcare and a wellness platform as well as great savings programs, and a clear vision for the future.

Why Victoria?

  • A collaborative group approach with a high level of technical support from colleagues, many of whom have been with the Vancouver Island team for over ten years.
  • Our Victoria Municipal team frequently sets up social events to foster a solid team atmosphere – some examples include pickleball at the Uptown courts, pub trivia nights, board game nights, company BBQs, and lunches to celebrate work anniversaries or other achievements.
  • As a relatively new professional entering the workforce, you will be welcome to join the WSP Developing Professionals Network (DPN), offering professional support and advice from other DPNs across the country.
  • The majority of our work is based on Vancouver Island, so you will be able to see firsthand the results of your efforts in improving our communities and share in local success stories.

What you can expect to do here:

  • Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and provide appropriate solutions in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Work on and oversee staff efforts on a variety of project components including road works, sanitary and storm systems, water distribution systems, storm water management, and lift stations.
  • Develop conceptual, preliminary and detailed engineering drawings, designs and plans, including plan & profiles, sections and details for design, preparing specifications and contract documents, tender, construction and as-constructed drawing sets.
  • Develop stormwater management plans and undertake modelling.
  • Prepare proposals.
  • Business development activities.
  • Mentor and develop the skills of junior staff.
  • Manage each project to ensure client expectations and business unit standards are met.
  • Field review, contract administration and resolving construction issues.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • An undergraduate degree in civil engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in the engineering and design of municipal infrastructure and land development projects including water, wastewater and drainage infrastructure.
  • Professional Engineer registered with EGBC.
  • Experience with engineering of roads, water, sanitary and drainage systems, particularly on Vancouver Island.
  • Demonstrated experience with management of engineering projects.
  • Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D software and MMCD documents.
  • Experience in construction services including tender preparation, contract administration, and field review.
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal, including teamwork and interpersonal abilities.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to respond to changing priorities and meet deadlines both independently and as part of a project team.
  • Strong focus on managing multiple projects with a solid commitment to exceptional client service on an ongoing basis.
