Job summary

Samco Machinery in Toronto, Ontario, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closing of complex projects in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

You will coordinate cross-functional teams, manage scope, budget and schedule, and ensure on-time delivery according to COA and Master Production Schedule. The role requires PM expertise, strong drawing interpretation, ERP/MRP familiarity, and superb communication across all stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of Project Management experience in a fast-paced engineering and manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Project Management Practices, Methodologies, Tool and Techniques (e.g. PMBOK).
  • Strong planning, organizational and coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical / electrical engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of metallurgical processes, metals, metal processing and roll forming.
  • Familiarity with ERP and MRP systems / software.
  • Excellent written, oral, and listening communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage project scope, cost, time and quality as per COA and Master Production Schedule to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Establish milestones and deliverables; monitor progress against schedule and budget.
  • Follow Samco project management and product development processes.
  • Maintain continuous surveillance of all customer orders and project status.
  • Report issues impacting schedule or budgets and implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate meetings with customers, suppliers and internal staff; document minutes and action items.
  • Provide timely project updates and status reports; keep customers informed of milestone dates.
  • Ensure deliveries align with customer requirements and project milestones.

Job Summary

The Project Manager is responsible for the initiation, planning, execution, monitoring & controlling and closing of projects.

Job Duties
  • Manage the scope, cost (i.e., budget), time (i.e., schedule) and quality as outlined by the Customer Order Acknowledgement (COA) provided by sales to ensure complete customer satisfaction and sign off.
  • Establish Milestones and Critical Deliverables by evaluating the project scope and schedule to budget based on the Master Production Schedule (MPS).
  • Follow the “Samco Project Management Process” and Samco Product Development Process.
  • Maintain continuous surveillance of all customer orders throughout the project life cycle.
  • Ensure Samco Product Development Process checklist is fully and effectively utilized.
  • Ensure all critical milestones are being measured accurately and are being met.
  • Ensure complete line orders are shipped to the customer efficiently, cost effectively, and on time.
  • Ensure all project meetings are scheduled as required with necessary customer, supplier, and internal staff in attendance.
  • Conduct routine and timely follow up of open action items from milestone meetings.
  • Report on any issues that may have impact on project schedule(s) and/or budget(s) and recommend / take the necessary corrective actions to bring the project(s) back on track.
  • Track project progress and provide timely project updates and status reports.
  • Update customers with information on project team milestone dates and job schedule, keeping them up to date on potential issues or problems encountered.
  • Manage the deliverables of the customer requirements by running all required milestone meetings, ensuring all meeting minutes and action items are maintained.
  • Maintain positive and productive working relationships with management staff, shop workers, engineering, and office staff.
  • Be courteous and helpful when dealing with customers, suppliers and with co-workers.
  • Comply with Sec. 28 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and policies as outlined in the Company Health and Safety manual.
  • Follow all plant safety rules.
  • Follow all company rules and regulations as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Ensure customers are aware of and comply with the Visitors Safety Policy while in the plant.
Job Requirements (Education, Knowledge & Skill)
  • Minimum 5 years Project Management experience in a fast-paced engineering and manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Project Management Practices, Methodologies, Tool and Techniques (i.e. good understanding of the PMBOK guide).
  • Strong planning, organizational and coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and work independently and autonomously.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical / electrical engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of metallurgical process, metals, metal processing and roll forming.
  • Familiarity with ERP and MRP systems / software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a multi-disciplined and multi-cultural team environment in order to meet and achieve project and departmental goals/objectives and to deliver results.
  • Excellent written, oral, and listening communication skills with the ability to clearly convey and receive technical information.
  • Knowledge of company products and manufacturing processes.
  • The incumbent must be able to work independently in an unstructured work environment. The incumbent may be required to travel to customers, suppliers, and other company facilities.
  • Knowledge of GD&T, FMEA, APQP, Gantt Charts, Project Management Software, ISO systems and 3D design software.
