Overview

Project Managers lead project teams responsible for estimating, preparing, scheduling, coordinating, executing, and monitoring projects. They develop and implement contracting strategies, manage project contracts, and ensure sound commercial management from initial strategy through procurement, execution, and management of sub-contractors.

They represent the company to external stakeholders professionally, reflecting the company's values and enhancing FRPD’s position.

Responsibilities
  • Accountable for all aspects of project performance including resource planning, commercial and contractual adherence, HSEQ, client management, and compliance.
  • Communicate and provide direction to all employees involved in pursuit or project execution.
  • Develop strong relationships across the organization, including unionized labor, managers, and superintendents.
  • Enforce FRPD’s Health & Safety, Environment, and Quality programs, including:
    • Following the Integrated Management System (IMS)
    • Leading the preparation of work method statements, procedures, safe work plans, and hazard assessments
    • Participating in daily safety meetings and site inspections
    • Ensuring compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality requirements
    • Obtaining all necessary permits prior to work commencement
  • Ensure timely provision of materials and subcontractor requirements.
  • Approve project materials and resource requirements, manage invoices, and support project costing and budgeting.
  • Lead estimates and manage project execution, ensuring compliance with contractual, technical, and regulatory standards.
  • Manage multiple projects across different locations, ensuring all permits are in place.
  • Negotiate pricing and prepare schedules to meet client needs.
  • Manage Project Superintendents or Forepersons for efficient project delivery.
  • Protect contractual positions and manage contractual changes proactively.
Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Diploma in Civil Technology or Degree in Civil Engineering
  • 7+ years related construction experience, including at least 5 in project management
  • Experience in marine construction, drilling, pile driving, or clamshell operations
  • Eligible for AScT or P.Eng registration in B.C.

Skills, Knowledge, and Competencies

  • Ability to interpret design drawings and specifications
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe, AutoCAD, Civil 3D
  • Knowledge of site survey planning and supervision
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and discrepancy recognition
  • Motivated, results-oriented, and team-focused
Working Conditions
  • Ability to travel extensively as required by projects
