Job summary

Job description

This position is based in our Burnaby office and supports project sites predominantly around the lower mainland of BC.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Project Manager is responsible for effective project leadership and construction management in the safe delivery of foundation contracts (of all sizes and complexity), optimizing the use of resources to deliver the required quality, on time and on budget.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the implementation of BAUER's Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) procedures on assigned projects, monitoring effectiveness and implementing corrective actions as required.
  • Promote a positive safety culture by encouraging workforce engagement, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Champion a zero-tolerance approach to unsafe conditions, behaviours, and practices.
  • Implement and monitor project quality procedures, ensuring compliance with specifications and contract requirements.
  • Identify, assess, and manage project risks to minimize impacts on project performance, business objectives, and client relationships.
  • Develop project-specific Method Statements and Risk Assessments, ensuring site teams understand and comply with requirements.
  • Coordinate with engineering and technical teams to resolve design and construction issues efficiently.
  • Develop and communicate project schedules, milestones, and key deliverables to site teams and stakeholders.
  • Monitor project progress against contract and tender schedules, reporting on performance and implementing productivity improvements where required.
  • Manage project resources, including labour, equipment, materials, and subcontractors, to optimize project delivery and efficiency.
  • Implement effective project cost controls and financial monitoring procedures.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Represent BAUER at project meetings, progress reviews, and client discussions.
  • Administer project contractual requirements and proactively mitigate contractual risks.
  • Maintain accurate project records and documentation to support commercial and contractual recovery.
  • Prepare and issue project correspondence and reports as required.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to project staff and junior team members.
  • Support the development of long-term client relationships and future business opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support project and business objectives.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, geotechnical engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • P.Eng. designation considered an asset.
  • 5+ years of project management experience, preferably in geotechnical, deep foundation, ground improvement, or other related construction methods.
  • Demonstrated experience managing project safety, quality, schedules, budgets, and risk.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, project controls, cost management, and financial reporting.
  • Proven ability to lead site teams, subcontractors, and project stakeholders in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management software.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as required.
SALARY RANGE

The pay range for this position is $100,000 - $130,000 depending on experience.
