Job Description

WSP has an opportunity for a Technical Director to join our Remediation Program Management team based in Vancouver, British Columbia (open to other locations within British Columbia for the right candidate). The team serves large clients across Canada and is known for high-quality technical work. The role involves managing a portfolio of mostly downstream oil and gas sites, with potential support for midstream and upstream sites.

Ideal candidates will have demonstrable experience in bringing complex contaminated sites to closure in British Columbia.

Responsibilities

1. Review deliverables such as Phase 1 and 2 Environmental Site Assessments, Detailed Site Investigations, regulatory forms, and technical reports.
2. Mentor Junior and Intermediate project managers, report authors, and field staff.
3. Support project managers with technical presentations and client/regulator communications.
4. Assist leadership with client management and RFPs.
5. Conduct site visits to support field staff.
6. Lead by example in health and safety practices.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geoscience, or relevant field.
2. 10-15 years of experience in contaminated site technical direction in British Columbia.
3. Eligible for registration as a Professional in BC (e.g., P.Eng, P.Geo, etc.).
4. Strong understanding of BC Contaminated Sites Regulation and Environmental Management Act; knowledge of Alberta regulations is an asset.
5. Experience in bringing sites to closure within the last three years.
6. Ability to become a Contaminated Sites Approved Professional within 1-2 years.
7. Excellent mentoring, communication, and problem-solving skills.
8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and PowerBI, Oracle.

Compensation

Salary range: $110,000 - $140,000, based on experience and location.
