Job summary

Bird Construction is seeking a Project Coordinator for Civil Works on major projects, based at the site office in Toronto. You will support the Project Manager, coordinate safety, quality, scheduling and cost controls, and liaise with clients, subs, and suppliers to keep programs on track.

The role requires an undergraduate degree in civil engineering or construction management, EIT/P Eng designation, 2–4 years of hands-on coordinating experience, and a proven ability to manage multiple

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in civil engineering or construction management.
  • Eligible for, or have attained, E.I.T., P.Eng., CET, or PQS designations.
  • 2–4 years hands-on experience as project coordinator in large commercial/civil projects.
  • Experience coordinating earthworks, excavations, soil compaction, formwork, concrete pours, and erection of prefab concrete structures preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with price change orders, RFIs, shop drawings, and coordination among sub-trades and suppliers.
  • Prepare and update project budget, schedule, and cost reporting during construction.
  • Participate in weekly subcontract progress meetings and track progress.
  • Maintain master schedule and align superintendent look-aheads; monitor productivity and plan vs actuals.
  • Support billing setup with client and invoicing; monitor subcontracts and payments.

Project Coordinator - Civil Works - Major Projects - EHTHReporting to the Project Manager for Civil infrastructure, the Project Coordinator will work closely with the Cross Functional Team & Superintendents and will be responsible for coordination of project requirements including but not limited to safety, quality, administration, scheduling, cost controls, client/sub-contractor/craft communication and management. Site experience in any of the following disciplines is highly preferred: earthworks, excavations, soil compaction, formwork, concrete pours and lifting + installation of prefabricated concrete structures.You would be joining the East Harbour Transit Hub Alliance that is designing and building a new railway station that will connect 3 different rail lines and improve the daily commute of thousands of riders. This position is based at the site office, 415 Eastern Ave, Toronto.What You Will Be Working OnAssist with price change orders, track requests for information, review and coordinate approvals of shop drawings, and coordination of information provided and required by sub-trades and suppliers.Prepare and update the project budget, schedule, and cost report during construction.Participate in weekly subcontract progress meetings and progress tracking.Assist with updating and maintaining weekly master project schedule and ensure Superintendent look-aheads are aligned. Monitor productivity rates and subcontractor planned vs. actuals in the schedule.Provide support in setting up the billing schedule with the client and execute the billing and invoicing.Support management of subcontracts including monitoring notification periods and value increases. Assist in managing payments, settling disputes if they arise and subcontractor performance evaluations.Manage subcontract submittals.Develop and maintain positive relationships with client(s), consultant(s), sub-trades and suppliers.Provide assistance to the Project Manager in ensuring project health, safety and environmental standards meet legislated requirements and company policy.What We Are Looking ForUndergraduate degree in civil engineering or construction managementEligible for, or have attained, E.I.T., P.
