Job summary

Bird Construction is seeking a Quality Coordinator for its Civil – Major Projects group. The role reports to the Quality Lead and collaborates with the execution team to ensure field work meets company and client specs.

The position is based at the site office in Toronto, supporting East Harbour Transit Hub Alliance and related milestones. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in project quality control/QA on construction sites, strong audit experience, and excellent communication.

Responsibilities

Quality Coordinator – Civil – Major Projects - EHTHReporting to the Quality Lead, the Quality Coordinator will work directly with the execution team to ensure that work completed by Bird Construction’s Infrastructure-Major Projects group meets all company and client specifications.

You would be joining the East Harbour Transit Hub Alliance that is designing and building a new railway station that will connect 3 different rail lines and improve the daily commute of thousands of riders. This position is based at the site office, 415 Eastern Ave, Toronto.

What You Will Be Working On
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate field-related activities and quality issues.
  • Coordinate and participate on audits and/or surveillance at the sites checking the quality processes, procedures, and paperwork.
  • Work with project team and/or functional areas in conducting investigations, addressing nonconformities, preventive action, and improvement requests.
  • Coordinate and participate in construction kick-off meetings
  • Support the process of collection, and classification of all Quality Management System records.
  • Provide recommendations to improve processes and procedures
  • Facilitate internal audits including corrective actions to provide independent feedback to further support project quality improvement.
  • Establish and facilitate validation requirements for design readiness reviews prior to critical project milestones including design package review submissions.
  • Prepare, implement and apply the PMS Team Audits program to assure compliance to the Integrated PMS Program and Project procedures.
  • Understand and adhere to Bird’s safety management system, policies, procedures and values.
What We Are Looking For
  • Technical degree in Civil or construction field
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience as project quality control/quality assurance in a construction environment.
  • System and project quality auditing experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in development and implementation of Project Quality Plan and Inspection and Test Plans.
  • Attention to detail and proven decision-making skills.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization and time management skills.
  • Problem solving abilities, contribution to new quality initiatives, striving for continuous improvements and accurate record keeping will be key to your success in this role.
